Just got off the phone to my brother who says we're in for a defender from Moussi's old club, SCO Angers. He didn't know the player's name but he thinks we're competing with Liverpool for the honour. He didn't tell me how he knows this this so it could be baseless.

Gabon's Manga Attracts English Interest
February 25, 2009

Gabonese starlet Bruno Ecuele Manga is reported to be attracting interest from England.

The 20-year-old defender is currently on the books of French second division side Angers, but has seen his reputation rise considerably in recent months.

A number of assured performances are believed to have caught the eye of Arsenal and Liverpool, while a host of other teams continue to track his progress.

The youngster may struggle to obtain a work permit in order to allow him to complete a move to the English Premier League, but for now Manga is just happy to be drawing admiring glances from some of Europe's most illustrious clubs.

"It is fantastic to get noticed by huge clubs from the Premier League. It means I am doing well," he told skysports.com.

"What I need to do is to concentrate on improving my game and see what happens.

"However, it would be a dream come true to play for a top team. Three years ago I was at FC105 of Libreville (in his homeland) and today I am linked with the best league in the world.

"It is unbelievable, but I am calm. Angers will have the last word anyway. They are the team that gave me my big chance, so they will play a big part in any decision."

Might not be that unrealistic. There were a few bids for him last year from europa league teams but nothing came of it. The bigger teams like Real Madrid, Arsenal and Liverpool are rumoured to be keeping an eye on him. Nothing has really happened from it.

Moussi was linked to Paris St Germain before we signed him, and I can remember who the teams were who bid for Manga in the summer but they were on that sort of level.

He's been know about for ages by the big clubs and none of them have brought him so they can't be that impressed. He is probably getting impatient waiting for a transfer.

If we were able to sign him when he's being looked at by that lot, it would be extremely positive.

If it is true that the big European teams are looking at him it's not necessarily the end of it.

Big clubs are happy for these players to come to teams like Forest. I'm sure this has happened before where we put all the hard training and ground work in and if in 2 or 3 years time he is still showing plenty of promise they will then make it known and maybe we will receive a bid or two.

I agree, teams like Real Madrid track a lot of players. They simply can't buy all of them. Only the elite few get picked up. The rest prove themselves with other teams like us 1st.
