Formation question!

Hi, there!

Well, I'm from Norway, so I have almost zero possibilities to actually watch Forest play, hence my question.

I'm a tad puzzled about who play where in the midfield. The only thing I really know for sure is that McKenna is in the centre of it.

So, I've come up with a few possible suggestions, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it;

Cohen - Majewski - McKenna - Anderson

Majewski - Cohen - McKenna - Anderson

or

Anderson - Cohen - McKenna - Majewski?

If all those are wrong, feel free to slay me.

Oh, yeah, and by the way! This bouncer at this nightclub I usually go to is from Leicester!

Short summary:

Me: "So, where are you from?
Him: "England, mate!"
Me: "Yeah, obviously, but where in England?"
Him: "Leicester, mate!"
Me: ":D"
Him: "Sorry?"
Me: *holds up five fingers*
Him: "Oh, what!? You ain't gonna come in here all night, mate"
Me: "Earnshaw, Earnshaw, Earnshaw, Anderson, Adebola!"
Him: "F****** hell, go on, I nearly cried, for Gods sake"
Me: *holds up five fingers again*

I think it's the first one. Except that Cohen and Anderson often swap wings. McKenna and Majewski both play central midfield, with Majewski given a more attacking role.

It was non of them. Formation in the first half was a narrow 4-2-1-3:

Camp

Gunter Morgan Wilson Shorey
McKenna Cohen
Majewski
Earnshaw Anderson
Blackstock

From my seat i the trent end i thought we played 4-4-2

I predict - no two replies (from posters that attended) on this thread will agree

It was sort of like that, it was very fluid, Ando tended to be on the winger (both sides), Cohen wasn't often fully on the wing - he covered nearly all the midfield. McKenna undoubtedly holding and Raddy was relatively free in his role as well.

Our midfield?

At the moment, it's more akin to the famous Dutch "Total Football" than anything else; fluid, interchanging, and always capable of creating a scoring chance or snuffing out an opposition attack.

I think it's safe to say we're playing some of our best football for at least ten years!

I'm not getting carried away, am I? ;D

Given the majority of the last ten years has been abject dross, no, I don't think you're getting carried away :)

Majewski played centre mid. Cohen started tucked in on the right side, with Earnshaw dropping into a sort of right sided striker role. When Majewski came off Cohen went into the middle.

At least thats how i saw it ;D

We were quite fluid yesterday.

Ando played wide on one wing, with Cohen tucked in on the other. When Cohen did go through the middle, the spare forward moved across to track the spare full back.

On a couple of occasions Earnie was tracking Berner (LB) and Blackstock went with Neilson (RB).

McKenna sat deep, with Majewski roaming around just in front.

When the subs came on we went 4-4-2, with Tyson generally down the left and Ando/McCleary down the right. Cohen alongside McKenna in the middle.

from where i stand the above is how we have played quite a few times this season, but as bad as this sounds I dont tend to pay that much attention to the formation while playing, unless it is stareing me in the face

For the first half our formation varied depending on who had the ball.

Defensively we definitely seemed to have McKenna and Cohen sitting just in front of the back 4. Attacking Cohen moved into a much more advanced role alongside Majewski. It was good to see.

Tell you what, if we can't agree on who is doing what watching them week in and week out, what chance have the opposition got? :D

I like the Dutch Total Football analogy though

Cohen definitely started on the right as I remember commenting on it but after a while, he and Ando swapped quite a lot.

Majewski didn't seem as advanced as I've seen him previously.

Cohen could afford to play a bit more tucked in on the right to give Gunter the space to over lap him.
