Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies says the right loan players to reinforce his injury-hit squad are simply not available.

The Reds lost 2-0 at Birmingham at the weekend to remain four points clear of the Championship relegation zone.

Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "There's plenty of players out there but I know about their backgrounds.

"I know about their injury history and the type of lads they are in the dressing room."

Davies is yet to add to his squad since joining the Reds in January.

He added: "Myself and my staff will continue to look, but the January transfer window was difficult to work in and unfortunately we didn't add to the squad then.

"The loan market is even harder but we're looking constantly."

That last sentence really fills me with confidence

That reads to me like he is saying, I know what type of player I want to bring in, and I'm not going to just sign anyone for the sake of it.

I don't think it's about BD refusing to sign an Andy Impey or Alan Rogers type , it's what ND and his f**king transfer acquisition commitee is allowing him to sign , telling him what type of players he is allowed to sign. I think that is probably the most difficult part for BD , going through that process and getting his targets veto'd.

Quite clearly he is saying he wants players that will fit into the dressing room and squad because he knows that the current attitude is what is keeping us going and is his best chance of pulling off survival. He could sign another Andy Cole etc f*** the dressing room cameraderie and we could be in all kinds of trouble. Sometimes it is as simple as what the man is saying without looking to blame others all the time!

When he first came , he certainly wasn't saying stuffs like that , he wants to add to the squad , experience etc , wants to build a squad as big as wolves etc.
Now he's suddenly talking of nurturing , don't want to upset the balance of the dressing room etc. You don't need a rocket scientist to know that something behind the scenes had happened to make him change his stance.

Correct he said he did want to, he also said it was late coming in at that time to do anything in January and that he did not like loan market. He said he will take his time and act in the summer, he said he needed to add experience to the young players. What he is saying now is about now not the summer. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to be able to see that.

Show me where he has said he is not able or wanting to do any of the things you mention in the summer?

I think you need to take into account that what Davies was saying changed only after the transfer window shut...

Apart from non-permanent loan signings, the closed window means we are going to have to rely on the younger players until the summer. if the manager was saying that we would be bringing new players in the summer, it could effectively demotivate the youngsters in the team now...the mindset being "well, I'm going to be replaced, so what am I fighting for?"...don't look any deeper than good man management on BDs part.

Mind you, I did think today that constantly running these young guys down as kids and particularly what he said about bringing Newbold off bench maybe going just a bit too far. There comes a point when even if it is true that constantly stating things like this might just knock these young guys confidence.

Depends on the psychology of the players invovled, Dorset.

Some players decide to prove you wrong if you run them down, others need a comforting arm around the shoulder...knowing who needs what and when is the key to being a great manager...

Are you chummy with Billy Davies? Did he tell you all this?

Theres more to this than we are being told.

From Billy Davies coming in really wanting to add to the squad, we've since seen numerous injuries - but have added nobody.

I wouldnt advocate getting any old rubbish in, but the tune has completely changed.

I dont believe that we CANT attract people to the club. So what is it?

Is it a disagreement on the target players?

Has ND closed his wallet?

Either way, we are playing a very very dangerous game. I fear without spending a few quid that we are in big danger of going down.
