FOREST OPEN DAY?

Anyone know what's happened to it this year?

My lad is 9 month old now, so this would have been my first real opportunity to indoctrinate him.

They are doing an evening with Billy Davies though! What could be better? The man is almost a god.

Seriously though, I can't wait for him to refer to himself in the 3rd person, its the only reason I'm going.

Billy Davies Is disspointed to announce that there will be no open day this year. Billy Davies is concentrating more on Training, as Billy Davies knows that a club managed by Billy Davies gets better results from more training.

basically he said something like that, we are concentrating more on training than open day.

Its good IMO.

Can't believe how dismissive some of you are about this. How can this possibly be a good thing for a club trying to hold on to, and attract, supporters? I'm honestly quite disgusted.

From experience the Open Day has always been well attended and a perfect opportunity for Forest to give something back to the community at an event that I doubt costs us much to put on (most of it was from other companies flogging stuff anyway).

Having a free pre-season event, where kids can have a look around the place was fantastic. I remember the experience myself (many moons ago) which helped me to really want to be part of the whole thing. Having the Open Day was surely helping to ensure that kids gain an affinity with their local club rather than defecting to the Big Five (ManUre, Arse, Scousers, Chelski & Notts County)?

If Billy wants to concentrate on training, well that's fine (and understandsable). The club could have still have made some representation (Jules B for one) and all the other events could have gone ahead without him.

I think this is a major own-goal by the club, and am really saddened that I won't be able to take the nipper down with me for some time to come.

It is sad but every chance I have had to go down to the CG since seasons end there has been major work going on. The roof being relayed I believe ! Work vans, scaffolding and power tools everywhere. I would like to hazard a guess it's more of a H&S thing than ignoring the fans.

On another note, the new Victor Chandler hoardings are up behind McGoldrick on his interview on the OS

My missus rang the CG today to ask if there was an open day soon, she was told that because there is a game on the saturday, there would be no way they could hold an open day which would have been sunday coming, they said that its down to staff not having the time to organise the ground for the folowing day.

I heard that the open day was cancelled because last year someone wrote something very nasty about Marthur in the clay track surrounding the pitch. Analysis proved that it was written in Megson's urine but further analysis proved it to be Calderwood's handwriting.

If the players can only be arsed to sign autographs for 2 hours its best they cancel it. Atleast this way we all know the contempt they hold us in.

Personally it doesn't bother me, but I can see the value in it particularly for those fans with kids - and of course assisting in that cruellest of parental pursuits which is converting their children to a lifetime of misery supporting the Reds.

My nephew is gutted... I take him and wanted to take my little girl down too. Not best impressed by the concentration on football thing. They get days off of training so let them be adored. Not much appreciation for those that pay their wages. 1 day.

Open day is closed before it opened.

I've just written to complain. Will keep the site informed when (if) I get a reply.

The excuse about not being able to put the event on after the Brum game is very feeble indeed, as it's been done with ease before. If it was, why didn't they have it last Sunday?

If it's a question of paying overtime to staff then that is unacceptable for a club that has shelled out so much on players over the summer. The Open Day wouldn't have cost a fraction of Gunter's monthly wages, nevermind his transfer fee.

To be honest, I don't think the club give a nats chuff about it all, which really saddens me as a parent of a potential disciple of all things NFFC. The way I'm feeling right now, perhaps I'll take him to Carlton Town when he's old enough if Forest can't be arsed with him.

If the fans didn't go to the ground then the staff would not have a job anyway so either the players should pay them out of there over priced pay packets or they should do it for nothing.

As for the players needing more training or rest then i'm sure sure one day wont hurt them. If we keep this up in ten years time we wont have any young supporters

kids wont get hooked unless you take them to games i think ,i started going with the old man in the old trent end at the age of 7 , now i cant keep away from the place 8)i do think the club should have sent youth team to do it though

I'm gutted about this, as i've got a 9 year old little brother, and 8 year old sister. Who were born out of nottingham, when my mum moved. So its hard for me to get them to games, but my sister is forest obsessed since she was taken to her first game (we beat cheltenham 3-1).
So she was really excited about coming up for the open day and finally getting to meet the players.

Its a real shame, but im wondering if the delay on the home shirt release had a small thing to do with it. I imagine on open days the make alot of revenue back on shirt sales, name and number printing, and such, and it covers the costs of the open day and makes a little profit.

This year, theres not much to sell beyond training gear so the club wont make any money out of it. I'm not saying thats definitely the reason...as its rather cynical i know....but i wonder if its a factor.

Anyway, its a shame there isnt one. The club needs things like this to stop local fans just becoming fans of the big 4.

It is a shame. I don't see why we couldn't keep up what we have done for years in the past.

Later on in the season they sometimes have an open day invite only if your child's a Robins Red, i went last October and it was very good.

Not as good as the open day but still very interesting and you meet the team.
