"Forest need a nasty streak" .....

According to Billy Davies

BILLY Davies wants Nottingham Forest's players to develop a nasty streak to help them in their relegation dogfight.

"People like Morgan at Sheffield United, they are experienced, they are grinders and they are nasty.
It takes time to get that, but that is what we need"

Personally, I think cheating Yorkshire bastards are the last thing we need in our team right now.

I do kind of agree with what Davies means, to a certain extent. I think he could have phrased it better, and given better examples. Having a thug on the team isn't the way forward.

Why must he use Morgan@blunts as a shining example, that guy is utter scum of football.

We need some steel yes, not thuggery.

He has got a point though. We've been missing that level of gritty determination since the days of Psycho as Captain. Our squad right now is not determined and it really needs to be.

But I really hope we don't sign Morgan, no. ;D I'd prefer we went back for Rob Jones.

i think he is right in what he says he just wants us to be a bit more nasty as teams dont like to play against it so maybe time we started to whack a few people i mean as in hard tackles i dont mean i am part of a MOB of any sort and we need to start ''whacking'' people.

how about Viagra eye drops.................they dont do much for your willy but the make you look hard

sorry about that.

Yep, in principle I do see his point, and agree. We need players who are ready to "get stuck in" (for want of a better phrase)

I would hate it if we become a thuggish long-ball team who rely on big, physical players who bully their opponents.

Plenty of teams do play like this, especially in the Championship. But at the same time, plenty don't.

Savage did kind of own us in all of the Derby games, though.

In the league game it was our utter rubbishness that made savage look good. I think a good example is someone like Lee Carsley at Brum, might have lost some of his sharpness but he is calm and looks the part of a nutter.

On another forum, people saying this is a deliberate wind up / mind games by our Billy.
It was a Barnsley player who got put into hospital by Chris Morgan earlier in the season and understandably he is now hated by a lot at Oakwell.

i wonder if Billy will repeat his comments tomorrow when he's 5 meters from the said Barnsley player and surrounded by Barnsley fans. If you kick a wasps nest prepare to get stung.

I doubt it....

Under what circumstances would he need to be talking about Sheff Utd players while he's busy at a Forest match?

We're never going to play long ball, because we clearly don't have the type of players who can make it work. That requires much taller players. We have a passing football side. But we also need to get that level of aggression going. We are getting bullied out of games by several teams we've played and we need to develop a squad mentality of being made of sterner stuff.

If we stay up, I think Billy plans to 'restructure' the team - clear out certain players and replace them with players he wants.
I think that a part of that will include getting in bigger players who are more suited to direct football.

not necessarily. look at the players he's bought in on loan, hardly suited for the long ball. while some of them are clearly just a stop gap, there are others he could have got. im sure we'll see a couple of direct players in, but that is so we can have a couple of game plans. sometimes the passing game doesnt work, sometimes direct play doesnt work. Billy has said before how he wants a team that can adapt to any situation at any time, and having a mix of players allows us to do that.

We do need to be harder and more aggressive, we simply cannot allow ourselves to get bullied off the ball

Yeah, agreed. I wasn't trying to say Billy Davies wants us to play direct football at all times.

Like you say, it seems that he wants us to be an effective and competitive side, who can play with a range of tactics depending on the opposition and situation.

My original point was that I hope we don't become an ugly one-dimensional team. Not that I think Billy wants to do that.

Well, if BD really thinks it will help...I've found the nastiest streaker I could:-

Possibly a bad choice of words there but didn't Clough once say that games can be won before a ball is as much as played on the pitch?

It may well be 'mind games' but I see it more as confidence, sheer determination and a will to settle for nothing but a win. I believe that intimidation and putting fear into the minds of our opposition can win us games. I'm not suggesting thuggery or foul play only we should master the art of hard and fearful tackling and a hardened attitude. For 90 minutes, our opposition should be considered our enemy. ;D
