Forest legend Burns fears club could be left behind after failure to make signings

He said: "I would love to see the club reach the Premier League – they went so close last season.

"But I find it unbelievable that no new signings have come in before the window closed. It is a real blow.

"It leaves the club standing still while everybody else is driving past us. That's what has happened.

"You have to remember James Perch went to Newcastle and Julian Bennett and Joe Garner have gone out on loan. Only Ryan Bertrand has come in.

"The club wanted to build on last season but I fear that won't happen now.

"I am not saying spend, spend, spend. I understand every club has their limits, in terms of transfer fees and wage demands of players.

"But the dressing room needed an injection of new blood, new faces before the window shut. A lot of people will be feeling really disappointed. I am one of them."

Now the only option is the loan market until the transfer window re-opens in the new year.

"That's a long time away," said Burns. "The aim is always to get better and better. To do that, you have to add players to improve the squad, while moving people out.

"It's like buying a new house. It's great but you add to it to make it even better, maybe put on a conservatory or add extra touches.

"That hasn't happened at Forest. The club has stood still while others go past."

Yup, the fact that I feel like I've read that 50 times already tells you ode Kenny is saying just the same things as half the people on here.
 
One answer to it.

Blackpool.

If the players play well and work hard, you can get promotion. Simple.

Comes down to motivation and the manager. I mean, who on earth would put a not match fit McKenna into the play off's just as Moussi was getting some form after a few games on the run.

The same manager who perhaps dropped Moussi from the Norwich game and put a not match fit McKenna in again.......... ?

Question that, before everyone cries about no new signings.
 
Moussi was carrying an injury going into the playoffs as was Cohen. Mckenna would have had to play either way really plus I guess Billy felt the inclusion of Mckenna after so long out would give some sort of morale boost
 
we're not lucky enough in the play-offs to get promotion that way so we have to do it through the automatic route and that means bringing in more players of quality.
 
anyway Kenny should have added again to the end of that sentance. AGAIN FFS FOREST
 
While I agree about everything that has been said about signings or lack of them, I have to agree that Blackpool are an example of how to do it. Seemingly no internal squabbles brought about by a bolshie manager. Billy should stop this habit of his where he makes his excuses first; I think he HAS been told by the club to stop it. Whoever we sign or don't sign, I want the manager of my club to get his players fired up to go into battle - give the opposition hell all over the pitch.
 
even holloway had the chance to in his own words " beg, borrow and steal " some players. Yes Billy has already got some very good players but we need some more options even if they're not as good as what we already have.
 
Well, Kenny is absolutely right.

We do seem to have stood still whilst others have strengthened!
 
I also think we have to be a little understanding of the situation.
We want better players, not just any players, and after last season better players would seem to be Premiership players (not always though)
remember when Billy brought in all the loan players a couple of seasons ago? We ended up signing them all.
I, like you dont know much about running a football club. but believe me, I dont think for a minute we didnt want to buy anyone this transfer window.
I would like ND or MA to talk to us and see if we were in the running for players, not nessasary the names or clubs, I just want to know if forest are still an attractive club to come to.
I still want to be watching Forest in 10 years time and I genuinely believe Mr Doughty will ensure that.
 
the question is then does Billy want premiership players and the club is unable to get them or does the ND want premiership players and will not entertain anyone of lower quality in his or the TAP eyes
