Yeah, it was mentioned in another interview as well. I imagine theres rights issues and stuff in place that block the threads from being opened up to the public even if the club wanted to. Such as deals with tv companies for highlights and whatnot.

Its an interesting interview, but again hes just saying pretty much the same things he always does. Cant fault for him for that, as at least he's consistent.

It'll be interesting to see if anything comes of that, but then again I guess unless your inside the club you wouldnt notice any obvious change (bar a raft of players coming in).

But its impressive they are at least acknowledging its an area where the current system has struggled, and are making some attempt at change. Hopefully for the better :)

It will certainly be interesting to hear billys thoughts on it.

That is a very interesting change of direction, and even if it doesnt work out- its impressive that doughty has recognised theres a problem and is looking for ways to change it. Rather than persisting with it, as in the past

Doughty and Davies singing from the same sheet and saying sensible stuff that should be palatable to the majority of reasonable fans.

Maybe Billy should be ill more often!

Why has it taken this long to put out the standard ambition statement when it could have come eight weeks ago. Oh well we'll see if anything changes, I highly doubt it though.
 
Could be a ploy to get soon to be out of contract players to sign up aswell.

I imagine that players like Earnie would want indications of ambition before signing what could be his last meaningful contract

I'd heard whispers that the operation of the panel has been changed to give Billy more control - it should be interesting to see how he operates under these conditions as it takes away a degree of his favourite excuse lol

I do think he should have more control though.
 
As long as he doesn't bring in the same amount of shite he bought for Derby! I'd disagree slightly with his comments throughout the summer about 'stellar signings' - we shouldn't forget there are bargains to be had, if the scouting network is doing a decent job, which with the right management should fit into our side.
 
Notice how he gives BD more input into transfer dealings when he's in his sick bed. as soon as he's well again and out ND will take it off him again.:nowink:

There is always lots of talk but no actual delivery - we have been due some sweet talk, but its not that sweet to be honest, like a sugary substitute that leaves a crappy tast in your mouth but you still buy it because you want to lose weight. same old spin.

Well if they cannot find a better left winger than Nathan Tyson (anywhere in the world) then something is seriously wrong.

Now are those players available...simply answer is yes -

Ross Wallace was a £1.9m buy for Burnley
Andrew Surman cost £600k from Wolves
Scott Sinclair seems a snip at £500k for the Swans
Mark Yeates ended up for next to nothing at Swans
Tommy Smith (can play anywhere across a front 3)
Middlesboro shopped abroad, and gambled on the up and coming Tarmo Kink from Europe for less than it cost us to bring in Lynch.
Gary McSheffery on a free (one bitten twice shy)
Danny Rose on loan

Of course lots of Right wingers moved as well who could have improved us as well like Liam Lawrence (also not even mentioning Bellamy as no other team apart from Cardiff would get him in our league)

Some examples above, all varying in cost (if we had money or not) and I think most would agree better options than Tyson?

We put all our eggs in the Peter Whittingham basket. Now that seemed fair and contrary to the report he wasn’t the seasoned Premier league professional Doughty seems to think Davies always wants (mind you neither are Pratley, or Victor Moses last January). He was a very good Championship player and certainly one that would improve us. You would think he was available mid-summer when we initially went for him, out of contract next year and Cardiff looking like they were going to the wall, Not only that but Mark Arthur from up on his high horse claimed he wanted to sign for us.

So a top player that all on the Acquisition panel agree would be a good signing, now all they had to do was Invest in him – but their initial bid was rejected as derisory (we have heard that before) now that’s not Davies fault. They then got the feedback was he would sign for us if a fee can be accepted (and no doubt his agent led Forest to believe he would NOT sign a new contract at Cardiff)– so what do the board do? They sent in another bid lower than the first.

Cardiff again unsurprisingly reject it and were also left annoyed with the way we (try to) do business (as was Whittingham and his agent because of the claims of our wonderful CEO)! In fact Mark Arthur claimed they (Cardiff) would even talk a fee but it was clear from the likes of Dave Jones intimated every player has a price when he told us “to put up or shut up”.

Well we shut up (till after the loan window closed that is, and then Marthur gave us the usual excuse) That whole episode dragged on so long it became a joke. Cardiff were allowed to brings players (and boy did they, proving quality players are available) they started the season well and Whittingham signed up for another 2-years!!

Yes fishing in a small pond for players, so either using the wrong rod and bait or wasting their time in a fish free pond
 
If you see what I put about the Bale thread and some of you will know who I was getting the information from and it's now pretty much confirmed in this article, I think finally the penny has dropped for Forest or at least Nigel Doughty. He's had his fingers burnt before with managers signing shit, and realises that all of Davies's targets which we lost out on are proving their worth elsewhere, Bale being the absolute cock up of the century from our point of view... From this article he appears to be showing more trust in Davies now and will give him a little more control. I think we have a decent Jan transfer window to look forward to...

That was the bit that set off my radar - it is very unusual for them to come out and confirm something like this; Forest have always been very "close to the chest" with their cards.

That the Chairman has perhaps realised the way we did do things isn't working is commendable on his part, and I too hope we will have an interesting January to look forward to; the table shows us we're not out of the title race by end means, and with a couple of real quality additions there is no reason why Forest can't climb the league!

truly hope we do see a great window but where will be by then?
the only reason i question this is that we have already missed out on some loans that are proving to be very good championship material who were Midlands based .. Kitson,Lawrence etc and if they went to a penniless foot of the table team.... nuff said look for the positive i guess at least ND is talking now
 
Just for the record Bale had no interest in talking to us, let alone joining. Spurs however were willing to talk...interesting who comes out of the woodwork to stir trouble. People moan about a lack of communication from the club, they get some and rather than discuss they use it as an excuse to have a pop

Absolutely right. I think it's commendable that the Chairman comes out and tells us what's going on; it certainly reads like they are going to make a better effort in January.
