Forest is the most successful team in European Cup History

Seen a flag at a Chelsea game a few weeks ago saying "proud of our history" if ever there was a club and set of fans that should have a flag saying that then it should be us.

Even if it does get all the haters out there saying oh Forest fans all they do is pipe on about what they did in the glory years. Thought about putting my money where my mouth is and getting one made up but TBH
wouldn' really want to be carting a big flag around with me to away games.

I quite like the fact we don't go on about our history as others claim we do all the time.

Sure, it crops up - just like three years in League One does, just like years of abject crap does. But we don't go on about it, we certainly don't expect to be of a higher standing now than we are because of it.

I like that. Understated.

I can remember a few years ago when A Block used to sing nearly every game "we went to Europe, we won the cup twice"

Fortunately a few years ago A Block was half empty and barely audible then ;)

f*** em.

What's the point of not being allowed to revisit the past? The people who tell us we live in the past are just jealous that they cannot do the same.
Every season a football club completes will then become the past - therefore should we forget about football?
Equally, should we forget our war heroes?

We have a fantastic history that should always be touted about. Equally, Derby County should be free to shout about all their records. Oh, maybe that's why they don't!

Not many clubs' fans really harp on about past glories (Liverpool excepted), you don't hear Ipswich, Blackpool or Preston fans going about their past successes.

On a related note was annoyed to hear ignorant Forest fans chanting "You've never won f*** all" at Preston on Saturday!

Sorry, I don't remember Ipswich, Blackpool or Preston ever winning Europe's greatest prize?

We won the top flight once but we don't harp on about that because it wasn't the same ridiculous achievement as winning back to back in Europe.

I don't know this was the playoff season. Where my season ticket was near the front rows now lookes empty the last time I sat in BC looking over.

I forget the chronology, I have a good view of A Block as I sit almost opposite, but there was a spell when the front section was closed when the war with the stewards was at its most heated.

I had a teacher at school who was a county fan, he hated Forest and would go on about how Forest fans harp on about winning the European cup.

If I could go back in time I would wrap him up in a Forest flag saying "proud of our history" and drop him out a window.

It doesn't really matter what the past glories are though; fans could still go on about it.

Daughters mother in law runs a pub in Direby, i used to get a bit of stick cos Forest have never won at shame park, the quick reply that direby never won in Munich or Madrid shuts them up very nicely

History matters. You are defined by your history. OK it doesn't mean you should remain in the confines of your history, but it matters.

Born in London, I still rue the day, almost a hundred years before I was born, when Forest gave Arsenal a set of shirts to set them up as a club. And why don't Spurs fans know why they wear white?

Personally I believe these things are important, but can understand that others are just concerned about football results and recent history (even if that sometimes is on a week by week basis).

I created league tables like this mainly to wind up my mates here, as it's clearly Forest 2, London 0 - fact is we've all had 50 odd years to compete in Europe's elite tournament and let's face it we've won it twice - that matters. But things do change as now finishing 4th in the PL is apparently a success.

Of course, I don't think we're the most successful club ever in EC/CL, but you can turn stats in your favour if you want to, and so I guess I have here.

But fans seem to think what is happening now, will be the case for the next 5/10 years or so, and seem to forget there was a time when Man U hadn't won the league for 26 years and were in the second division, Liverpool couldn't stop winning the league title, Man City were in League 1 and Chelsea were days from bankruptcy. Football changes and Forest will hopefully achieve great things again.

I watched Forest win the European Cup twice. I loved going to Manure, 'cos we almost always beat them. We were BIG. I loved it and will never forget it. To anyone who goes on about us mentioning the past - too bloody right we do - some of us were there - gets us through those dark days of the third tier. BTW - when that team I refuse to name (down the A52) get to the third, what will they have to keep them warm?
