Probably you're right, but the memory of singing that after the game against Yeovil when we went up from League One still brings back good memories!

We should sing "Forest going up with a fiver in the bank" at Prideless Park on the 30th.

honestly, i don't think we should go up, our squad isn't anywhere near strong enough to survive in the Prem. Lets not forget we were fighting relegation last season and the squad hasn't changed that much. I think one more season in the champ would do us good tbh.

If you look at squad from before Billy, the squad has changed a lot! And we were a lot better in the second half of the season... playoff form near the end.

As for being strong enough in the Premiership. If we aren't, neither are Newcastle or West Brom. And we did ok against Birmingham and Sunderland in the cup... so we couldn't we compete with the likes of Hull, Bolton, Blackburn, Portsmouth etc - they are not great football teams in the slightest.

Apart from the nine new players (ten if you include Shorey).

I firmly believe that if we weren't good enough we wouldn't be 2nd, and we wouldn't have had this amazing run. Without meaning to sound anti-Derby, you could argue that they weren't because they relied so heavily on their defence and the odd goal here or there !

We are playing fantastic football with players scoring freely from all over the park and defending as well with class !

Although investment would be required (a top goalscorer mainly) I think the building blocks are there.
Picture the likes of Chambo, Wilson, Wes etc and how they were last season, they looked out of their depth and not good enough.

Now they look a class above anything else in the championship. if they have improved that much then only imagine what could happen with another step up !! Billy and his staff have taught the team how to be better players and more importantly, a better team by a country mile. I think with the way we play at the moment we could beat several of the lower sides in the Prem quite happily.

Look at the Brum game. Not a glamour match but Brum are a very good team these days and can quite easily make another team look very ordinary. Well that's what we did to them for the majority of the game.

DickDastardly isn't taking into account that we had players on loan before making them permanent in the summer when he says the squad hasn't changed much.

We have a new goalkeeper, two new full backs, two new central midfielders and three new strikers. Camp, Shorey, Gunter, Lynch, McKenna, Majewski, Anderson, Blackstock, Adebola and McGoldrick are all new signings whether they were on loan here or not.

Also, with Gunter, Blackstock and Lynch on loan, we were in play-off form last season.

That's quite a different squad in my opinion.

I think, with the right additions in the summer, we could survive. I'd say that our current squad is as good as those of Blackburn, Hull and Portsmouth at least.

You can guarantee we will go up next season can you? Absolutely Stupid statement, 60million quid says we are ready WHENEVER there is a chance.

I agree. And this Forest squad are a class above the route-one Derby team that got promoted.

Welcome to the forum. ;D

It's all about opinions afterall only I think you're wrong on this one. Given the opportunity, we should (and will) be promoted. Our current squad is ploughing through the Championship and, with a couple of careful and inspirational additions, will challenge Premiership teams on a level field.

You simply can not compare our current team with that of last season. Not only have we had good investment in new players but the ones that have come the way with us have stepped up the pace in line with the performance expectation from a team in the top two challenging promotion.

And last thing I would want to do is give Prem teams the opportunity to use the offer of immediate Prem football to any of our stars !

Another season in the CCC could do that if we carry on like this, although I imagine Billy to fight tooth and nail to keep them !

We might go straight back down , but then again we might not! You take your chance whenever you get it.
It amazes me that people think that the curve of a club is always upwards. Does anyone think Hull would of been nailed on and more ready a season after they did? Look at Preston? Bet they wished they went up when they were close.

We're going to Arsenal, you're going to Walsall. We're going to Liverpool, you're going to Hartlepool! lol

Not sure of which is better for the second part mind.

I have to disagree...

I remember when D##by had their promotion season, I saw a couple of games before they started to slip in the new year - they were nothing like as good as we are now, they had a solid defense and a hard working midfield but, there was nothing else.

ten games ago I would have been saying the same thing as you are here, but the ease that we have dealt with the teams around us has showed me that we are ready to step up. Look at the defense: they work as a unit, the opposition launch an attack and there are two men closing them down. Look at the midfield: we retain possession and play it around as well as I can remember (and I have a long memory) Look at the forward line: pace and players to hold up the ball.

Total football is a term that is often used to mean a team that plays open, attacking, one touch and move football - we can do that - we can also mix in a bit of fight and physical presence in a way we have notdone for a long time, without reverting to hoof-and-charge.

The type of football we are playing seems effortless, every member of the squad can play it around - they all look good on the ball (well mr adebola may be an exception but he adds another aspect to our game) they can all put in the work-rate and they all play like they have the understanding of the game that normally only comes to the older professionals

That convinces me more than anything that we have the essential part of a team to survive (at least ) in the Premier league - we have a squad with an average age of 23 - they are already playing like seasoned professionals - if you think that players probably reach their peak at around 28-30 that means if we keep this squad together for the next 5-7 years they will improve year on year - just look at how the Manure team of young kids of the Beckham/ Giggs era grew into world beaters?

I dont think for a minute that we are going to step up and win the league - I do though think we have a bloody good squad of young players who all work for the cause while they have the skills as well.

the D##by side were older hard workers but nothing more - we are young and skilled and adaptable - just look how Wes and Wilson (and Chambers) have stepped it up this year - If we add a scattering of top class players to the mix we will more than survive in the Premier League

BELIEVE IN THE REDS!

If we aren't ready to go up, who is? We've played pretty much every team off the park.

i think Newcastle and WBA will go up, playoff's is a lottery and i tend to favour the teams in 4th and 5th as ususally these are the in form teams come the end of the season. Don't get me wrong I think we have a good chance of promotion and were playing great football, my concern is yo yoing and losing all of our talent. Of course there is an argument to say that if we don't go up we could lose talent but i don't think it would be to the same degree as relegation.

Indeed. I remember those dark 'sack the board' years and the ocean of drivel on these boards. We're on such a crest of a wave at the moment it would be difficult for one or two losses to kill it, but still doom and gloom is never far away.

We should enjoy what we're doing but be realistic, we're still in virtual 3rd with West Brom's game in hand and are very, very lucky with injuries at the moment. If we finish in the play offs we should be ecstatic.

Absolutely spot on.

We're 11 points clear of Blackpool in 7th, so the playoffs - at least - should be achievable if we keep up our form and don't suffer too many injury problems.

And I would be ecstatic with the playoffs; anything better and I think I - and probably many others - might just explode with delight!!
