Forest can win league - Gunter

Nottingham Forest defender Chris Gunter says the Reds squad have what it takes to win the Championship this season.

The 20-year-old completed a transfer from Tottenham in the summer, after a two-month loan spell at The City Ground last season.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We have the quality and strength in depth.

"There's not many other Championship teams spending this amount of money and a lot of the players brought in are proven at this level."

Forest begin their campaign at Reading on Saturday, 8 August.

Was waiting for someone to say that to be honest player or fanwise...We have no bloody chance and thats not me being negative but lets be honest we were in a dogfight last year and there's some bloody good sides in the league this year to, And although we've made some decent signings there going to take time to bed in, knowone including manager knows the best staring 11 as yet so im predicting a slow start
I'll be happy with a top half finish pushing into play-offs then promotion push the year after.

having a go at one of our players for being positive...shame on you :wink:. I'd rather have players like Gunter pushing for the top then saying something like " we haven't got a cat in hells chance, the season f**ked before we've kicked ball.....

Nothing wrong with having a winning mentality, all Gunter is saying here is that the players should be aiming as high as possible. Quite rightly so, whats the point in entering any competition unless you are trying to win it. I'd rather see us aim high and fail than settle for a 'comfortable' position and not be dissapointed. If the players approach every game genuinely believing they can win that kind of confidence breeds good results. As long as this doesn't turn into complacency we'l do fine, although seeing as we still have everything to prove and a manager as thorough in his preparations as Billy I don't think this will be a problem.

Obviously Optimisum has to be high in the camp.
This is the usually kind of stuff, what they like to say so people like them. It would be nice if we did, but I don't think we have enough to do it.
Top 10 would be nice.
