Was really that bad to warrant words like "fury" and "backlash"? There were some doubts, sure, but I don't think they were ever that bad!

I don't agree that he "failed" as a Derby boss. He got a shite team in the Premiership then barely got any time to have a crack at the Premiership job and they bought Paul f***ing Jewell in who did even worse!
