I've responde to football sponsorship in a different way, being more inclined to boycott products who sponsor teams I don't like (ie Holsten/Tottenham, Carlsberg/Liverpool, Topps Tiles/Lesta)

Exactly, so if anything there's losses to be made through sponsorship of a football club lol

Perhaps there's a possibility that we could end up with no sponsor at all? After all, there are Premiership teams with blank shirts these days...

That would be cool!

Maybe we could have "Forever Foxes" after the Les-dar deal with them fell though (despite my best efforts lol )

I don't think they'll go for it though, it wouldn't drive any tangible benefit unless there was a specific strategy to attract male consumers.

Even then, I'm not remotely convinced that men respond to football sponsorship in that way - I've never felt any kind of desire to own a Capital One credit card, I never insured anything with Pinnacle. I have drunk Labatt's lager but wish I hadn't, and was a bit too young to be drinking Shippos, sadly.

Football sponsorship, at least in the lower leagues, tends to be more about local identification and predominantly something as a reward for your employers.

Capital One made no secret that they were involved with Forest purely so that their staff could have benefits such as free tickets and discounted tickets.

The ability to also get a f*** load of free tickets and take them into schools etc sort of tied in with the 'teach kids about usiness' ethos that a lot of companies, especially in this sector, have adopted over the past few years.

Other companies sponsor as a mark fo prestige. Emirates, AIG, Samsung don't sponsor their teams to increase sales, they do so to be associated with success.

Alcohol companies tie in well with the demographic, and their ability to sell their product to the fans during the game would probably go someway to helping make said decision. A downside of alcohol sponsorship, though, is that they will not be able to put their logo on a kids shirt, which means their brand recognition amongst youngsters, something they say they don't want, but they really do, is going to be impacted.

I think targetting comapnies like PWC or Ernst and young could be a good move. Both companies have a big presence in this city (or just outside of it) and are doing excellently financially.

None of the above really applies to Forest though!

Businesses would be linked to failure, and let's be honest, the corporate facilities at Derby and Les-dar are better than ours.

Yeah, this is true.

I think we've exhausted our 'local companies' a bit.

In that case surely Cash Converters or Ratners would be appropriate sponsors

I hope it's a traditional Nottingham firm like Players cigarettes. No 6 tipped.

The physical facilities may be better. But they don't have Louise Kiddier.

Think of the Irony though....

Lesda and Derby go to the wall. The administrators pay us the money they receive from their demise. lol

It's an internet based travel agents in Sheffield.

They've just laid a significant amount of people off, so their continued sponsorship is in doubt.

With the "Nottingham" film coming out next year, surely Ridley Scott would want to sponsor us :D

I don't think anybody really cares if their sponsor is out of date, I don't. I would prefer it if the club sold the shirts without the sponsor's logo, in all honesty!

My first thought reading this thread was "Woo hoo, this probably means they'll be selling the current shirt off cheap".

Couldn't give a flying f*** about the sponsors name on it. I totally agree with what Winnits said, I'd prefer not to have the sponsors logo on it in the first place.
