Sponsorship To End
Tue 31 Mar 2009

Nottingham Forest can confirm that Capital One will not be renewing their sponsorship of the club when the current agreement expires at the end of this season.

Capital One took the decision to end their six-year spell as major sponsor of The Reds.

The club have already begun the search for their successor and are in talks with a number of interested parties.

Forest's Chief Executive Mark Arthur said: "We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with Capital One - a relationship that we believe has been mutually beneficial to both parties.

"We know Capital One have not taken the decision to bring their sponsorship to an end lightly and I would like to thank them for their wonderful support."

Erm, Dan, we've all been aware of this for some time. :)

I think this is the third thread on it, actually.

I replied before you put the article in! Didn't realise they'd officially announced it.

Still, as I said, I think everyone was aware that this was happening.

Did you hear that Capital One aren't renewing our sponsorship? :p

I hope we don't end up with something shit like Topps Tiles or Bumraiders.

Apparently we had a ÂŁ50 million a year deal with them pretty much nailed on ....

until Marthur entered the negotiations

Thankfully, there's no chance of us ever signing a deal with Virgin...

Doh!! I must of missed the other 2 in the depths of crap!!

Oh well it's official now! I feel for the people who brought shirts at the beginning of the season not knowing they will be out of date at the end of the season!! Hoepfully the club will see it right to compensate them when they buy a new shirt..

I wonder what Capital corner will be called or who the new sponser will be?

I don't think anybody really cares if their sponsor is out of date, I don't. I would prefer it if the club sold the shirts without the sponsor's logo, in all honesty!

I reckon it'll still be someone/thing fairly local because the club seem to like that kind of thing.

Perhaps it'll be Carling (I realise that's Burton, but you never know)

There aren't that many local businesses of a sufficient size to compare with Capital One, then again, they took over us at a time when we were consolidated in the Championship and thought of as playoff candidates so a potential top flight ascent.

I guess our stock has lowered considerably from then - so we'll end up with a more obscure sponsor, which is okay - I mean, we had Pinnacle Insurance before Cap One!

It's a shame Boots is such a female-oriented brand as it could be the start of a beautiful relationship!

I don't think Hooters have the wedge, certainly not from the localised franchise, to sponsor a football team.

They advertise on the ring when Froch fights, though. There is a big picture as you head to the toilets, of Froch giving someone a good chinning with a huge Hooters livery behind him.

Boots...not a bad thought...they could strike a blow for increasing the female fanbase. :)

Boots could be a good call.

They are one of the few companies that managed to turn a decent profit during these challenging times.

I don't think they'll go for it though, it wouldn't drive any tangible benefit unless there was a specific strategy to attract male consumers.

Even then, I'm not remotely convinced that men respond to football sponsorship in that way - I've never felt any kind of desire to own a Capital One credit card, I never insured anything with Pinnacle. I have drunk Labatt's lager but wish I hadn't, and was a bit too young to be drinking Shippos, sadly.
