Fixtures - looking good to Derby

The 7 games to Derby are looking good. With each passing game at the moment the next game always seems to be another we can relish in advance the prospect of seeing further evidence in the development of what is looking more and more like a great squad. There appears ot be nothing to worry and us and plenty of opportunity.

And in the lead up to Derby some of the games have significance beyond the 3pts available, in part they also offer an opportunity to banish some ghosts. Obviously we can view Preston today as important for BD and McKenna. Watford on boxing day is important as a) it was our last loss; b) the visit to Vicarage Road when the boss got to see the spineless nature of the side when we failed to compete against a poor Brendan Rogers' side; and c) boxing day was probably the bottom of the pit last season.

Then we have three West midland's teams. Coventry has little meaning and while not wanting disrespect them, its not a game we should be concerned with anything but winning. Then its Brum in the FA Cup, which could be our first defeat as the Big Heck has them playing well at the moment and flying high in the prem. But of course there is some history here as Davies and McLeigh both played with each other at Motherwell (in my opinion  ) and where they both got their managerial breaks, Davies follwing McCleish. The worry for this game is that it breaks the stride. I'm hoping that Brum want to concentrate on the prem and give us a bye. And then we have a Friday night visit to the Hawthorns. I suspect that this game will be a battle for 2nd place. Although I would expect this game to be a hard fought battle, its not one we should fear and the squad should be up for a bit of revenge after West Brom robbed the points when they came to city ground in a match when we probably first saw the craft of this side at work.

At the beginning of the season the visit of Reading would have held some amount of trepidation for most fans. Not any more. How things change? And Paul Hart's return to the City Ground in his new role as gaffer of the Jekyll & Hide hoops. Hopefully he'll fail to find the consistency his visit leaves him with a sense of de ja vu and perhaps a little thought of what could of been,

So, if we come out of that run of games and continue to be bang on form we should arrive at Pride Park with just one task left to complete in our reconstruction as footballing force. This will be Billy's first real retutn to Pride Park and a good victory here will be the icing on the cake. Personally, I'm hopeful that this could be the game when the biggest ghost of all will be excorcised and the legacy of Clough senior is finally consigned to rest in peace at the shrine of football, prominent but in the background, and new era of footballing glory can truly be said to have been establish at Forest.

In summary, I suspect we're in for a verry merry xmas and prosperous start to the new year.

As much as I agree with your thoughts on the games themselves and the approach and mentality, I disagree they are a good run of fixtures in the way you are implying..

They will be f***ing solid.

However That doesn't mean we will lose.

Watford (A) - If Peterborough & Derby can beat them, so can we.

Coventry (H) - Coventry haven't been a decent side since the Gordon Strachan years, and that was years ago. We will beat them.

Birmingham (H) - Agreed, of course this is not going be easy. They're in the top half of the Premiership but we've beat them in pre-season and we fear no one at the moment.

WBA (A) - This is a real 6 pointer right here, this is going to be a tough game for both teams lets hope we can at least grab a point from our Promotion rivals. (We deserved at least a point when we played them in August)

Reading (H) - Reading have been off form all season, but maybe their form might improve when they hire their new manager but still I'll be expecting all 3 points when they come to the City Ground.

QPR (H) - Harty returns! QPR are a decent side & it will certainly not be an easy game but lets hope the boys claim all 3 points.

Derby (A) - This is the easiest games out of our next 7 & I'm looking forward to beating the sheep shaggers again!

I cannot think this far ahead!

If we get 4 points from Watford and Cov I will be delighted. Beyond that, f*** knows but it is about time we beat the sheep f***ers at PP and we will not get a better chance.

There are no easy games, and we would easily lose at Watford.

The main thing here is to keep expectations down, and ensure that we have the best possible away support.

When you get too confident is when you lose in a stupid way.

I was a bit drunk when I wrote this convoluted preview.

I did not intend 'good' to equate with 'easy', my main point was between now and Derbyy there are some good games with added significance that can be confidence boosting beyond the win.

I looked at the next fixtures until Derby and felt the same, not sure wether it's because i believe we really are good now, or just the quality of the opposition. Last six weeks i've been expecting us to come up short.

The end of the season looks good too.

Newcastle mad - for what its worth - have us as the biggest threat to them. Even if we are 10 points off the pace.

The number 2 slot would do nicely!

Rage got to number 1 so why not?

That explains a lot.

The test will be next season when these deals run out and the mutton fanciers have had enough of Nigel.

The sc*m are up to their usual 'giveaway' specials!! w**k**s!

Its a way of drumming up support in the local area and if they've got plenty of spare seats then I'm sure they'd rather give them away in the hope that the clients purchase match day food/drink/programmes, and they're also hoping the client gets hooked so they start paying out real money for renewing their season ticket (or cancelling their mobile contract and starting a new one with another free season ticket).

Down in this part of the country, MK Dons sometimes gives away free tickets or discounts some of their matches so you can get in for next to nothing (Adults £6, kids £1).
