First visit to the City Ground - where to have a good drink?

Hi,
together with a friend I'll visit the match vs Leeds. It's our first visit to the City Ground so we're in desperate need of some good tips for a nice pub (home support) to have some beers prior to the match:cheers:

We'll visit Forest in our attempt to complete "the 92". Nothing special, but as we're from Holland, it takes some extra time (decades...). If you want to read about our visits thus far feel welcome to visit the Ray Wilson project

Any tips for a nice pub?

If you want to experience a nice modern pub with a bit of atmosphere, try The Southbank on Trent bridge.

I think all other surrounding pubs will leave you a bit of a dull impression of us Forest fans

+1 for the Southbank.

Best place for a pint, pre-Forest.

And they server Amstel too, so you'll be right at home.

Make sure to look at our beautiful stadium from Trent Bridge, one of the best footballing sites in the country!

Why not extend an invitation from LTLF to these visiting fans, meet and greet in the Globe, give them a decent welcome and some decent company ?. I cannot make the Leeds game or would take it upon myself.

wow! you have gone fairly slowly!

We have. It's just a day / weekend out we have about three times a year. Both working guys with families you know and the wives want their occasional holiday too . And funny enough they don't want to spend these in a pub in England before and after a footballmatch:)

Hey Gert - As the others have said, Southbank is a good bet - i would also recommend starting in West Bridgford at somewhere like the Monkey Tree - http://www.themonkeytree.co.uk - its a 6 or 7 minute walk to the ground and there are 3 or 4 other pub options on the way...

I like this from your website.... http://home.tiscali.nl/~theraywilsonproject/english/grounds.htm - I am suprised you did not visit sooner!

I hope you enjoy your stay in Nottingham!

Nice suggestion! We will be hungry and thirsty as our journey will start at 3AM...

still here...
Us Nottingham folk are so used to Hooters - i'm always ogling in there :hey: - but for the visitor it's worth going. It was the only Hooters in the UK, but I'm sure I heard they'd opened elsewhere? :dunno:

From Wickipedia:

Jones now lives in Brushford, just south of Dulverton, Somerset with rescued horses and other animals

Why am I not surprised.
