Final Game Question

IF - On the last game of the season both Forest and Southampton needed just one point to BOTH survive - Would we "conveniently" play out a 0v0 or 1v1 result?

Dont be silly. We would go 3-0 up in the first 15 minutes and lose 3-4! :)

Hahahahaha! Great reply! - You have clearly been following this club for a few years now! ;D

Blackpool and Watford did that last season didn't they - 1-1 for the point needed to keep Blackpool up and Watford in the playoffs. I'm sure it's not planned from the start but you'd think a few whispered words might have passed between the sides as the game was drawing to a close for neither side to push it too much.

Me and my mate talked about this yesterday.

I'm not sure if it would be arranged but an unspoken understanding would be there.

It would happen naturally, if both teams have what they need they won't take risks and will sit back. If both teams do this it will likely be a draw. If one team nicked a goal, I don't think they'd let the other team equalise.

I think there'd be 22 blokes in the centre circle playing 3-card and drinkin a pint.

Forest equalised against Gillingham, Bopp scored a cracker and relegated Gillingham alongside us

We were aleady down then so a draw wasn't mutually beneficial.

Can't answer that. What I can say with some certainty is that it was bloody funny from where I was sitting! :D

I remember the Germans and the Austrians playing out a booring mutually beneficial draw on at least one occasion. (sure it has happened twice recently?)
At least they don't follow it up with an invasion of the Sudetenland these days! ;D

I doubt that would be the case. I think if we continue our form we will be safe. That's an IF though.

That was disgusting, I believe as a result of that Kick off time shave been changed to ensure that a repeat of the that disgrace would be a lot harder to achieve, No wonder the Arch Duke Ferdinand was shot in Sarajevo as a result.

Probably a bit of both. Probably trying to salvage a bit of pride. When you think back to that team, todays team is much better. I think we will stay up. I really hope we get four wins before the Southampton game. They are capable of getting a result and on the last day anything can happen.

How many upper tier season ticket holders plan on moving to the lower tiers for this one?

In my opinion, we should always play to win no matter who we're playing and what position we, and they, are in.

In the scenario you're describing, it would be far too high risk to play and rely upon a draw. How many times do teams sneak a last minute winner?

Everyone has paid to watch a game of football so I would expect and hope they would go out for a win and try to end the season on a high.

The result won't matter to us as we will already be safe by then.
