Word of warning........

firstly this is not a reaction of an away loss at Birmingham City yesterday. It is however my opinion (that counts only for about 1/18,000) If either of you actually come on this site, which you should as it is informative, entertaining and sometimes quite passionate from some of the most deserving fans in football, then you may realise that as supporters that pay good money (premium money) we are not happy with the investment/commitment at such a crucial point in the season.

My first warning is this, if Forest fail to secure safety in the CCC then you just may not sell as many tickets as you think next season (don't think for one minute you will have uptake like you did four or so years ago) I for one would not renew my season ticket. Now don't get me wrong I will not turn my back and would more than likely pick off one or two of the more interesting games (should there be any) but no way would I commit to third division football again. Some people will and I hope they continue to enjoy watching Forest but not for me.

My second warning (and one that may effect you more) is this, if Forest go down due to BD having his hands tied and having to use boys that are still developing then you will simply not be forgiven. Will there be cries for Arthur/Doughty out? You bet there will. Will there be protests in the car park/ground? You bet. Will you be targeted everywhere you go, eat, drink, visit, socialise in Nottingham? well I hope it doesn't come to this.

I for one are extremely grateful for the way Mr Doughty has gone about his business and taken on a debt ridden Forest and gave us some much needed stability. However, football is fickle, fans have short memories and failure at this stage is not an option. Please back BD in the players he needs to ensure safety, pay the money (wages) and let's kick on to a mid table finish. We have the makings of a really good Championship team and I for one could settle for the next three or four seasons in the CCC if we are playing decent stuff and there or there abouts. We are so close to turning these so called bigger teams over. I know we have some very good players that will be coming back from injury and should bolster us enough to win games. However, you never know when you will suffer further injuries, suspensions, etc and have proved we just cannot cope with the size of the squad.

Please don't take the risk, get a coupe of lads in and we'll all sleep that little bit better (including BD) ACT NOW!!

I'll gladly travel the 100 miles down to CG for such protests.

Seriously though, take your post and paste it everywhere - facebook, other forest forums, your local nottingham news website. Let the board know us reds are in no happy state.

All very short sighted and passionate.

A total waste of time and effort though.

Just when you let me know how ND is going to be outed, If it has maybe escaped you, he actually owns the club. It is not a democratic process. MA is obviously doing the business the way ND requires or lets face it, in charge of bean counting for a multi-million pound turn over business, if he was failing, ND would have him out on his ear.

Warning, In the real world, economies are suffering huge downturns and millions of pounds of stock value has been lost, so who are we to tell any successful business man where to spend his private cash ??? We are customers, as customers we are able to vote with our feet, taking our money elsewhere. Your Choice.

If you don't like it, don't go. It is short sighted views such as yours that I feel are actually holding the club back.

Sorry for spending around £800 per year and holding the club back

Yes of course there is some passion but no short sightedness whatsoever. Never once did I say we would be able to oust ND but there would be some very upset customers if we fail. I do agree partially though, yes there is a huge downturn and millions of pounds lost however, do you think ND came into football to make money?? Now THAT'S shortsighted!! :nowink:

That goes without saying but I was just wondering how I'm holding the club back? Maybe I sing too loud or is it because I never leave before the final whistle??

It is actually quotes like "Don't bother if you don't like it" that is holding this club back. Maybe that's what was said to the potential players we've been trying to sign??

Unbelievable (believable) :nowink:

Shanks, a very well written post, but unfortunately it will fall on deaf ears with Mr Marthur and Mr Doughty. They run the club as they see fit, and they don't see us as anything more than a hindrance and annoyance to them.

Like Sedgred said if you are not happy with it then just don't go. There really is nothing else you can do, and protests/ Forest Fans should never be uttered in the same breath. We as Forest fans have never been pro active in anything realting to our club and that won't change now. Could you see Forest fans protesting like the Newcastle fans did? No neither can I....

Me, my old man, my brother and my 2 young 'uns don't go anymore, We stopped after the Doncaster cock-up and the transfer window cock-up didn't help loosen our resolve. We sent our season tickets back along with our reasons and thanked them for the last 10 years..... Our Saturdays are alot more fun now and we have got £400 saved towards a family summer holiday. Happy days :)

I don't see why not renewing your ST affects them. I don't see why moaning and ranting affects them.

We have to remember £7m has been put in this club by ND already this season out his own pocket. That is a hell of a lot, he is hardly going to be flashing loads of money about in the transfer market now is he? This is his money and his investment and therefore we have no option but to understand and accept why we are not bringing in players for big fees.

I know there is passion on here and plenty of commitment but I think putting yourself in Mr Doughty's position and thinking about it you would be reluctant to spend big after a huge investment already this season.

The board have made it clear that they want what we want. To consolidate and remain in this league they have their ideas and methods and priorities and we as fans have our. Unfortunately they have the finances and the power to make those decisions and we don't.

Other things to consider are Calderwood's pay off aswell as the other coaching staff that departed with him. I know Calderwood was on a "rolling contract" but the cost of all the departures will no doubt lead to a high amount. Not to mention the amount spent on bringing in a new manager and an entire new team of backroom staff. Expenses are going to high as they are.

Good things come to those who wait. BD will have his targets and then we simply have to leave it to the board. As I always say Quality not Quantity :D

the trouble is you can't really equate many years (30 years in my case) of support & loving the club to going out for a steak dinner can you? you can't just switch off , i suspect many fans get the hump after an inept performance and vow not to go the next week but a week later find themselves going again anyway , when i was working abroad years back i found it really hard not being able to go to matches or get any information (pre-internet days) so it's a bit harsh telling people to not bother if they don't like it as they'd find it very difficult to just be able to cut off , i agree with some of shanks & sedges points but personally all it would take to make me feel the club are REALLY trying is a couple of loans in to bolster the squad , if it doesn't pay off and we still go down at least i'll feel the club made the effort but if we don't and we go down it'll just seem to me that they didn't do enough to halt the slide , still eveyrone has their own idea of things .

I agree with every word you have said. I have a lot of time for ND but we can't take risks with relegation. It would be far worse than the 1st time and it confirms us as a league one team, rather than a chapionship team who went through hard times. Relegation must be avoided at all costs and Davies won't be blamed if we fail. The reactionary fans will go for ND and MA.

Your post is considered and rational and well thought out. I fail to see how it is short sighted.

I would have to think long and hard about renewing if we went down.

There's no need for grandstanding like this. Who are you to make veiled threats against ND and MA?

I hope they don't read your little outburst there, because to be honest it's embarassing.

Not a threat at all and if you read it properly I said I hope it would never come to that. Would I engage in such activity - no but a lot of supporters would. Maybe I could have structured my point slightly better but what I am saying is simple - if relegation follows with no investment at a crucial point in the season, when most other teams have, then there will be some negatives to follow. Hey, I hope as much as anyone that it doesn't happen and we may well just pull clear with ease (who knows because I don't) but why take risks???

Why not pay a relatively small some of money now and get a couple of lads in? If we do go down then it wouldn't be for want of trying by our 'Selection Committee'

But how do you know that the players they tried to bring in were just outside Forest's valuation, or sky high compared to the value the players were thought by Forest to be worth......Was not giving other clubs good money, in fact piles of it, paying poor players first class wages, that was a huge part in getting us into this mess in the first place.

It is an easy parrot cry, just spend a bit more and bring the players in, to save the financial downturn of another relegation. In reality it is a great deal different, Forest refuse to be held to ransom by either players or agents, looking at the recent signings introduced into the club, Forest have found that vital point between earnings and desire to play for the trickies.

I have been sickened by watching over paid under performing players don the beloved Forest shirts. So many have been here for the money, one last pay day etc. I would hate to return to those days, I would sooner watch talent and effort by the current squad than some of the dross served up by our big wage earners, who's performance's have helped to get us into this plight.

I think the title of your thread says's it all, a warning to. Do you know, I wonder if it has ever crossed their minds, the results of another spell in amongst the dead men , I bet it never occurred to them, falling gates and revenue, when they eventually decided that it was time to part company with CC.

Still think your original post was ill thought out and is the type of thinking that drags the club down.

Another pathetic short sighted outburst at a very well run club.
we are at a stage now (for the first time in memory) where we have brought players into the club who could largely be sold for a profit, we select our targets carefully and never pay more than we feel to be fair price.
we have spent more than most teams in this division, outlayed nearly 3 million on a striker.

The club are doing the sensible thing and not being held to ransom by other clubs, they select carefully, create an upper figure theyw ill be willing to pay and then negotiate.
everyone seems to think we should be able to grab any player we wnat - fact is we have just come up and come the Jan window on paper we looked like a relagation team - not a great career choice at that point.

the people who moan like this are the exact same people who would moan if we ended up with a load of Nicky Eaden/Alan Rogers/Andrew Impey et al contracted to the club.
finally we have learned lessons from the past and are buying sensibly and not panicking.

of course we want a couple of loans and it is blatantly obvious we are making enquiries but we wont be pressurised into bringing in players who are not good enough. McShefferey was all ready to come and yet Birmingham pulled out last minute. we cant help with situations like that.

as has been said - Forest is a product, if you don't like that product - go elsewhere.

this club is finally being run right in the midst of a recession. we are spending wisely, spending adequately and not blowing money on players not fit for the shirt.

OK, some people agree with me and some don't - that's football for you. I do agree with some of what you say but as a supporter I feel like we get a raw deal from Forest and without us there is no club. Sometimes you have to please the fans, at the end of the day they're the ones that pay the wages.
