Hi fil, perhaps you'd like to PM me? I work as a steward for a club in the Football League (not Forest) and may be able to advise on any rules and regulations if required?

Cheers.

You mean you dont actually live in the congo? I always pictured you as typing away from a computer in your jungle hut, with talking animals- in the style of the jungle book.

Gutted.

i sure i sent it but i'll post what happened here
i was ejected from the ground before the match had started along with my 10 year old son, what had happened was a friend of mine who had attended the match with myself and my son had been caught smoking inside the ground and had been asked to leave.
i fully understand smoking is not allowed inside the ground but at the time i did not know why he was being removed from the ground, i approached the steward and asked him why my friend had been removed from the ground and he asked me to look at the security camera and give him my ticket which i did and then he asked me to leave the ground, at no time during this do i feel that i was abusive to the steward in question.
the problem i have is my 10 year son was in his seat when this was happening and i explained that i needed to fetch him and the steward didn't seem to understand that i was not prepared to leave my son in the ground on his own.and he was prepared to let my son sit on his own until the end of the match
the steward in question said i was drunk although the private stewards and a police officer disagreed with him apparently his decision is final, i have no problem with being asked to leave the ground but this guy was not going to let me fetch my son until the private security guys spoke to him
After explaining the situation to a private security officier they allowed me to fetch my son, we then waited around for about 20 mins while they disscussed if we could go back into the ground.
i have been watching forest for over 25 years and have been a season ticket holder for many of those i feel like i have been badly let down by the club, i understand the stewards have a hard job to do and fully respect them and at no time in the past have i had any trouble with them.
my son is very upset by this situation

hope that explains the situation
the whole situation makes me feel like not renewing my season ticket along with my 2 sons and not giving nffc any more of my money if they think that it is acceptable to treat a father and his young sons in this manner then i seriously want nothing more the do with the club and they will have lost a generation of fans

Hi Fil,

Certainley sounds like you've been treated unfairly. I'll avoid commenting on the stewards reason's for ejecting you. That would be unfair of me, seeing as I wasn't there and have only heard your side of the story.

However, where I can comment without any shadow of a doubt, is that stewards have a responsibility to ensure the safety of everyone within the stadium, including a duty of care to ensure that children are appropriately looked after. In allowing your son to be left unattended, the steward in question has neglected this duty of care and therefore has not carried out his duties in an appropriate manner. If he was in any doubt whatsoever as to the truth of your story, he should have accompanied you back into the stadium and asked you to point out your son before having him returned to you.

I would hope that, under the circumstances, the club will see fit to offer you a full and unreserved apology for the way you were treated. I would also hope that the club will give you an opportunity to explain your side of the story and will be able to check the footage from the security camera to corroborate this story, before alos offering an apology for the potentially incorrect ejection.

I'm normally falling down on the sides of stewards as they're merely enforcing rules but sounds like you've been pretty hard done by there Fil.

i've managed to arrange a meeting with Mr Bexon and have also e-mailed a complaint to Mark Arthur
like i already said i have no problem with the stewards doing there job and have never had a problem with them before but for him to say i can't fetch my son is just disgraceful especially at a time when nffc are trying to promote the club as being family friendly

No wonder my post count..
Keep us all updated on this fil. I'd like to see how this turns out and if the steward in question gets a boot up the arse.

no problem i was originally only concerned about getting my season ticket back so i could take my son to the last couple of games but i feel i have to say something
from the information i was given by the private security guys and the police officer the nffc stewards decision is final and there is nothing they can do to change that i relise it was probably none of my business to get involved as to why my friend had been asked to leave but i thought it was a fair question to ask and i knew what trouble it was going to cause i wouldn't have bothered
the private security guys said that they were embarrassed by the situation and were sorry and tried there hardest to get me back into the match if only the nffc steward could take a example from these guys of how to treat people

Sounds to me that this Bexon bloke is full of shit and will try to fob you off with any random bollocks.

I hope you get it sorted.

Was this in the main stand by any chance?

How old was the steward in question?

It seems like the actions of a young and power hungry person.

I don't think the actions of this one steward are typical of the standard of stewarding at Forest. As Congo pointed out, they have a duty of care over everyone.

If he was not allowing you to get your 10 year old son you should have immediately contacted both the police and the stewards line manager.

I usually take the side of the stewards, as most complaints on here would be along the lines of 'I was smoking and got thrown out, how unfair', or 'I was persistently standing and got thrown out, why is it always me?', but your experience is not something, from what you've said, that was handled at all professionally.

yes it was in main stand just before kick off

It wasn't the oldish 50s supervisor short greyish hair glasses quite rotund f***ing arsehole of a steward that once ejected me for not sitting in my seat that someone else was sitting in? Im guessing it was, he was removed from A Block due to his attitude and ruffling too many feathers. He is now mainly seen in the main stand concourses chucking people out for smoking he is a power hungry twat. I actually got an apology for the way i was treated and i suspect you too will get one.

he was a older bloke when i complained to the private security guys about him not letting me fetch my son they said he was out of order and escorted me to fetch my son, like i said its my mates fault he got kicked out for smoking i thought i was asking a reasonable question in why he had been asked to leave as i honestly didn't know why i smoke but i'm quite happy to sit in the ground for a couple of hours without a fag
the steward is question would not even give me his name and number which he is supposed to write on the incident sheet i finally managed to get the police officer to get me his number but he still wouldn't give his name
