Elliot Junior Anderson OF ENGLAND!

The deal will happen; this is just the usual rumours and drama.

Not sure what that City fan is on about. City helped ‘ruin’ the transfer market years ago with Robinho, then later spent £100m on a reserve (Grealish).

Not that this matters. The market is the market, and £100m+ for Anderson is the going rate.
I'm yet to be 100% convinced it will happen, no announcement on the new manager yet from City, senior players moving on (granted - this happens every season) with Rodri announcing he'll review his City future after the WC and the rumours circulating about the 115 coming home to roost this summer. Pep didn't just drop his decision to leave on them, that leaving bash would've taken some time to organise with the guest list they had which begs the question, why hasn't Maresca been announced? I can't help but think that the football world know something's about to hit and people are sitting on their hands waiting to see how big it is.

Just been sent this but no idea if it's got any clout behind it.

The part that says "the player would be happy to remain at Forest" makes me a happy bunny. I mean he's clearly thriving here, it's not blocking his route into the England first 11, and he's got plenty of time left to win things (beyond the domestic cup that we're definitely winning next year), so I'd like to think this is plausible.

Though I suppose if keeping Anderson means we have to sell Murillo or (especially) MGW then it makes me less happy.

Based on him already being in America I think it's doubtful it happens before the WC which makes it hugely more likely he is going to stay in my opinion. This isn't the sort of deal that happens late in the day. We will obviously find out over the next week, if he doesn't move, I honestly don't think he will.

One of the worries is that it does end up happening late in the day and we've not got chance to source a replacement.

I wouldn't really worry about that, if we cannot source a replacement we just will not sell. Flashing cash in EM's face has never particularly worked, it's always come down to whether we can improve.

As I say, this is not the type of deal that historically gets done last minute (nor is it what City do either), if it is going to happen I think it happens in the next week or two - or we will agree a deal in principle & operate as if we have already sold him.

This situation has to be resolved one way or the other fairly quickly. It’s a massive transfer impacting both clubs and their subsequent summer transfer business. If the Forest powers that be are meeting this week, then I would expect something tangible in the coming days.

And if the player would stay…..get that new contract drafted up…..

I love Murillo but I'd rather sell him than Anderson. Obviously wouldn't happen now he's signed a new deal but he's more replaceable IMO. Not in a sense that you can find another player like him as not many exist, but in that his position in the team can be covered by a different type of CB and still be effective.

I just dont think we can get near to replacing the gap Anderson will leave as he's possibly in the top 10 midfielders in world football right now.

Yeah that's fair. It's MGW I really don't want us to sell.

People are always suggesting these swap / part - exchange type deals but they very rarely happen. Or if they do it’s to inflate the price of both players. (E.g. Anderson / Vlach)
Lazy journalism is to blame. They conflate the old "swap deal" for what actually happens which is two separate deals which allows both clubs to amortise the fee they pay whilst booking the sale fee of the other player.

A swap deal just simply doesn't exist anymore.

Man City baulked at the fees for Bellingham and Rice. Surely they won't do that for a 3rd time especially when they have done a lot of legwork on getting personal terms agreed.

Man City will have known the rough valuation of EA when they started talking to him, enough to work out an agreement if they so wanted to.
If the people who claim to be in the know are actually in the know then City value him at £80m so on that basis, I would politely suggest they have no fecking clue what he's worth.

Dont you just get sick to death of the Manchester clubs and Scousers, thinking clubs should sell to them as they see fit?

Players who are still under decent contracts and under no obligation to sell. It really pisses me off listening to their whining fans as well

There will be the usual rumours and dancing about re price but City, Forest, Elliott and all of us know what likely happens here. He goes to City for £100m+ and all parties are pretty happy.

Barring, God forbid, a serious Anderson injury, I reckon there’s a similar chance of me starting for Forest next season as there is of Elliott doing. This is our business model and will happen every 1-2 years.

Agree

Sometimes I hear Plastic 6 clubs saying we should sell at a ‘fair’ price, as if we’re an electricity supplier. The only price that matters is the one that persuades Marinakis to sell.

I don’t think anyone serious at City or Forest think he’s only worth £80m. When you look at other players of a similar profile he’s objectively worth £100m+.

I’d be amazed if Marinakis sanctioned anything under £100m.
