There does seem to be a strange collective push from ex Man Utd players with podcasts to push the idea that Mainoo is the missing link who will somehow make us completely unbeatable.

It’s everywhere. A load of ex utd players, loads of the utd social media types. They are all disrespecting Rice and Anderson. Saying Anderson has only had 1 good season (he’s actually had two). He’ll be this creative spark we need blah blah blah.

But what has mainoo done in the last two years?

28 prem appearances 25/26 and 1 goal and 2 assists.

25 premier league appearances 24/25 0 goals 0 assists.

His best season was the one before

24 premier league appearances 23/24 3 goals 1 assist.

So when you consider Elliott Anderson is instructed to not play his game so he can perform the number 6 role where he has loads of good attribute that role, why would you replace that and bring in Mainoo who won’t do the hard work, the donkey work. But he won’t even add the goals or the assists in all probability. It is also a step up in level especially now we are at the last 8. Wish some other pundits would call this shit out.
