Elliot Anderson

I really don't get why people are cold on Rico Lewis, he is 21 years old, already racked up 70+ PL apps at that age & can play all over the place with pace and energy. He has quality & would be a brilliant signing, would cover several positions even if he isn't starting every game.

The exact sort of signing we should be making, his ceiling is incredibly high, will only get better with more regular game time.

A bit of a stretch to call him a cast off.

Manchester City remain in active talks with Nottingham Forest over a deal for Elliot Anderson, with the England international determined to complete his move to the Etihad Stadium before the World Cup finals begin next week,

Possibly but us older supporters are still haunted by the 1970 Henry Newton/Tommy Jackson part exchange deal
with Everton.

I always get suspicious when we get relieved of our top talent and get a player as part of the deal.

I suppose there could be exceptions.

The similarity is they are good on the ball & versatile. That is probably where the comparison ends. Rico Lewis is at the start of his career & game is based on energy and speed.

Agreed, and setting aside all debate about how we are set within the financial regulations, £100m plus isn’t something we can leave to chance. Additional income has to come in on a regular basis whether we like it or not.

I think we’ll end up with the usual posturing and pissing contest from both sides.

They’ll want £35m for Lewis, when he’s worth less in our opinion. We will want to set records on the Anderson fee whether City like it or not.

I could see a net position close to £90m with inflated numbers on both sides, much like when we bought Anderson in the first place.

I agree it’s baffling. He’s a quality player, versatile, young and already bags of experience

As long as the fees are inflated on both sides that's fine. But we must avoid at all costs being convinced to pay over the odds for a makeweight like Lewis as part of a deal for Elliot. We hold the ace(s) here and must make the deal work to our advantage. I'd still be pushing for Neco Gonzalez.
 
I like Lewis and he can link up with mcatee. A change of environment and actually playing could be the making of him. The elements are there for a very tidy player

Well, if that's the case, Elliot better tell them to offer proper money then.

Like he has a say in the speed it moves, LOL.
 
I think Pep G leaving will open up the floodgates for the bit part city players to leave now . The aura has gone and any chance of development
 
I think Rico Lewis would be a decent buy but he signed a new deal last summer after our interest and said he only wanted to be at city. Maybe he thinks he can get more game time under a new manager who doesn't yet have his favourites.

If it has to be, get Anderson done, then pick up who we truly want now separately.

I’d say he does have an element of influence. Clearly the fee discussion is between clubs, but if the player wants the move, and I believe we want the massive income, then he can push for a quick resolution. I reckon he is respected enough with the club for that to be viewed in the correct way.

Not selling him before the WC will derail our summer planning and pre season, in my opinion. Not much sense in hanging around.
