I looked on HYS on the BBC article. The amount of chaff, from people that obviously don't attend football games, is amazing.

And one of the latest articles on BBC sport is Manchester City are threatening legal action over a Real Madrid presidential candidate's overtures towards Haaland.

I remember us lining up with barely passable right back John Curtis in centre midfield in the League One days.

Absolutely crazy when you compare our current midfielders to back then.

Depending on your viewpoint it’s either hilariously funny or absolutely ironic that Man Cheaty don’t like it when other wealthy clubs do it to their players!

Can see what's going to happen here. City pay what EM wants (even though it's a lot more than City value him at) and we pay a little more for Lewis.

He’s one of them players that can play in multiple positions like midfield or full back but never really nailed down a permanent position.
 
Plays with the same nervous energy I saw in Neco in his first season with us, which led to his defensive ability being questioned a lot on here. Particularly, his positioning.

Just as with early Neco, when I've seen Lewis he clearly has talent but his immaturity often left him floundering. Usually as a result of him being too high up. As with most emerging talent, it's discipline that they often lack.

Also, the played multiple positions observation is valid but not a stick to beat him with. First, he's only 21. Second, lots of young players, especially those with the raw goods, are shifted around. I think it's good management. Take Saka, playing left-back and undertsanding the role, i believe, made him a better right-winger. Our own Clough Jr was deployed as a centre-half (and a bloody good one too). In fact, I'm sure I remember a game when our centre-half pairing was Keane and Clough(?)

Final point, my only reservation with taking on City players is they appear to need quite some time to adjust. It's like the decompression period is longer than it seems for other clubs. Might have something to do with being raised in an environment that is hyper-real and over-engineered. That must impact young minds.

Lack of consistent games too. I think we'll see the best of him with a stint under his belt.
