why is the little fella not getting a game? for me he is one of if not the best strikers in the championship and is proven at this level.
i would of thought the front 2 would be Earnie an 1 other
is it true him and Billy don't get on?
for me he has to start every game when fit and if he's having a bad game then there are options on the bench

oh and i'm not having a pop at Billy i just think it's strange to leave a top goalscorer on the bench

maybe other striker who are in better form are playing?

The idea of the 6 striker plan was to not have to play the same striker 3 games in a row.

There will always be decent strikers on the bench..unless we decide to play 6 up front..!

I like it the way it is at the moment. Its good to have competition and a bit of depth.

Poor form in training? Carrying a knock? International tiredness? He didn't look too cheerful outside Cardiff castle on Thursday, unless that was his double.

I thought it was madness not to bring Earnshaw on yesterday towards the end. Even when Blackstock got injured Billy chose Mcgugan to replace him.

IMO he should be in the first team alongside Blackstock

Also, from what i saw yesterday, he should have been on brought in the second half to get on the end of Anderson's low crosses

Hopefully Billy will start with Earnie and Dele on tuesday and get on the scoresheet. It makes more sense when you think we play 3 games in a week. If he doesnt feature on tuesday I'll start to worry

lets be honest he hasnt exactly been great when he has been brought on recently, he has been very selfish in his play, he hasnt really given us anything when he has come on aprt from his bit of magic to win the pennalty against WBA, I expect his performances are simular in training hence his position on the bench, if he starts to do a job off the bench then maybe he will start a few more games, I see him playing a role simular to defoe for england this season though

I think he needs games week in week out to be scoring goals regularly. Not sure being rotated is doing his confidence the world of good and it's beggining to affect his performances.

this is true and I agree but what would you rather earnie starting week in week out and bagging 20 goals this season or the other 5 strikers get 10 each this season (remember blackstock has 4 already)

He will get his chance and sure he will take it and Billy will have to keep playing him.

Earnie didn't start yesterday because he didn't fit the system, simple as that. Who would you have taken out to accomodate him? Could he have played Garner's role down the right? Or McGoldrick's attacking midfield role? Both helped out defensively, McGoldrick making one great challenge on the edge of our 6 yard box.

With 5 in the midfield we look a lot more solid away from home, they really didn't have many chances. And we need that big man up front to collect/win/flick on any clearances or loose balls to help us gain/retain possession, and that man has to be either Blackstock or Adebola. We still created plenty of chances so the formation wasn't negative, just solid.

Earnie is a fox in the box which wasn't in our plan yesterday. Perhaps at home when the opposition may sit a little deeper is when his goalscoring instincts will really be necessary.

Having Earnie on the ebnch is a major worry to the opposition.

Because of his small stature and pace he can change games, and even if he isnt starting, he is always in the back of the defenders/oppostion manager's mind.

We can't play everyone.

Earnie will get his chance and I'm sure he'll take it.

I think Dex is pretty close to establishing himself as first choice though. We play our best football when he holds the ball up and brings others into the play. Adebola can be similar, but Dex's passes are sharper and better timed.

thanks for the comments and thoughts guys

heres another one for you

would Earnie walk into the starting 11 of any other team in the championship

oh i don't belive in all this crap about players not being able to play 3 games a week etc, ffs they are professionals who if it 3 games a week play four and a half hours of football a week, if they are tried after that they should try staying in a night instead of going out on the piss

Interesting that after Sheff Wed, Billy was talking about us needing to be more 'clinical'....well our most clinical striker was and is sitting on the bench. Personally, I agree, he isn't a player who will benefit from rotation, and needs to feel loved and 'first choice' if you like. He probably isn't our best 'all round' striker, but he almost certainly would have stuck those Blackstock and McGoldrick chances away on saturday, both from anderson.

Earnie has been far from clinical this season , he can't even score a penalty. He has been given chances but has not performed so why should he be exempted from the bench.
If he had been playing from the start , guarantee that forest would have been far less effective because the game on saturday was very scrappy with a lot of high balls , earnie would have been useless against those big sheffield defenders with the way the game had been played with all the head tennis going on in the match.

hmmm, not sure i agree with that. Yes ok the penalty, but everyone can miss one occasionally, and yes he tried to be a bit too clever on that occasion. But that's the only game he's been given the opportunity to start-look at the stats. All others has been on the bench. And if you remember it was him that actually won himself the penalty to at least give the opportunity. Also the only team that played long high balls on saturday was sheffield wednesday, forest tried to play the game on the floor, counter attacking with pace, and thats how those two chances were created. Earnie would have been in the same positions Blackstock and McGoldrick found themselves in, but the difference is he would have finished the chances, because that's what he is, a goalgetter. Looked sharp in preseason, and people seem to have very short memories, that he was our top scorer last season, with 17 goals, in a relatively struggling team. I know we have brought all these new players in, but Earnshaw remains a gem at this level IMO. That's why clubs like newcastle and middlesbrough have been sniffing around, at the first possible sign of being out of favour. Because they know what they'll be getting.

Earnie has had a poor start to the season, but he will get his chance and then it's up to him to grasp it. Provided he's fit enough to play, Dexter should start tomorrow night - but only Billy knows who his strike partner will be. Away from home it tends to be one up front with another striker playing just behind - not a system that suits Earnie.

I can see him being on the bench again and perhaps being in line for a start against Blackpool.

I worry about him getting upset and f***ing off somewhere else ... but you're right really. Look at Anderson! He admitted to having gotten himself down in the dumps (see interview in today's NEP), but he picked himself up, trained like a good 'un, and according to reports, really made a case for himself to start more often! That's how it has to be done, not trying to mardy your way into the team.

I think someo fhte comments about Earnie being 'selfish' would be an indication that he's frustrated on the bench and desperate to get back starting. The best way for a striker to do that is get on the score sheet.

I hope he'll get a full game sooner rather than later.
