Earnie to sign new 4-year deal?

It will be just like a new signing!
 
Good to see that he wants to stay, probley till the end of his playing days or at least his peak years.
 
I really hope this is true. He seems very happy and settled here, it would be great to see him commit to a long contract.
 
Earnie seems very settled here, has lived in Bramcote since his days at Derby, I'll be surprised if he doesn't sign to be honest.

Earnie always says how much he likes the area, how much he likes Forest and the supporters.

Apparently he's with a local girl too?

Anyway; let's get it done and get a real quality player signed up for the next four years (hell, we've given Dele a contract at 34, so why not one to take Earnie up to that age?)

I still reckon he's the best striker in the Championship - for simple maths, if he wants £10k per week for four years, that's a bit over £2m. Could we even buy a replacement for £2m, let alone the wages for a new striker??

am I the only one who fears forest wont offer him one untill end of the season then? or maybe even look to cash in, in january and bring in a younger player and cut wage costs? or maybe I do have a realy low opinion of my club
 
Earnie does live on cow lane, or at least that where his hummer thing used, or maybe still is parked (been a while since i've been down there).
 
Makes sense, easy access to the grubbier end of the A52 when he was with them. And by living in Bramcote he can carry on believing it's one of the better places in Nottingham. lol
 
Would be very pleased, if true. He has one of the best touches in the squad, is a natural finisher and a fans favourite.

Am I the only one whose joy at the news is almost overshadowed by the inappropriate use of an apostrophe in the original post?

An apostrophe does not mean "watch out, there's an 's' coming!"
 
No, I have been carefully conditioning myself on the forum to try to filter out such shameful grammar.

Whilst I have succeeded in limiting my commenting upon it, my heart does break a little bit more every time a poor apostrophe is abused.

Mine too. But given that only about 2% of people on the internet do seem to realise what it's for, I'd say we'll be saying goodbye to the apostrophe permanently in a few years :(

I suppose perhaps that's kinder than watching them getting raped over and over again...
 
This is a real conundrum as within or around the penalty area he is undoubtedly one of the top 5 strikers in this division. Outside of this zone he is IMHO one of the worst 5.
This was perfectly illustrated at Watford where his performance could best be described as pathetic. He looked like a 12 year old up against the Watford defence and a pretty poor one at that!
Now I know strikers depend on good service, but to make a real contribution in the modern game, in which pace and power have an ever growing influence, an all round contribution is needed. Despite many weaker aspects to his game it saddens me to say Adebola was more effective than Earnie at Watford.
A four year contract is far too long. He would never cut it in the Prem, should we ever get there, and although before his recent injury he was contributing more, I feel he is a luxury item we may not be able to afford.
 
I beg to differ, I was there yesterday and earnie did ok, not great granted, but he did ok considering he's coming off a long lay off. He dropped deep quite a bit yesterday and helped out the midfield. In the 2nd half all either side did was hoof it forward and off course earnie struggled to get the ball. Blackstock was just as shit if not worse, he's supposed to be our 'target man' but the Watford no 5 center back had him in his pocket all day.

You are right about adebola, he was the ONLY forest striker to win a header yesterday. For me Dexter seriously needs to bulk up if he has any chance of becoming a quality championship striker let alone hold his own in the prem.

As for earnie's contract, perhaps 3 years would be more suitable? But can't see us getting promoted any time soon so would happily give him 4 years, he will and has always scored in the championship.
