OK here we go, my predictions.

Earnie to Middlesbro

Bale to Forest
Sonko to Forest
Nugent to Forest

I hope this is a case of:

2 (Middlesborough have cash) + 2 (Earnie not starting regularly) = 5 (Earnie staying and it's a load of random speculation.)

ha id take that ;D

If Boro were to offer £4.5m for Earnie, as much as I like the wee fella, we'd be fools to turn it down.

Indeed, I suppose then money could be used to sign a left back and centre back. As much as I would like him to stay £4.5 million would be stupid to turn down :(

I agree, as much as I like the guy it would just be ridiculous to say no and he really doesn't seem to fit in with our long ball gamestyle, although it would be easy enough to play it along the ground, we look dangerous when we actually do, too.

first thought is.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
second is.... it depends on who we bring in to replace him.
i really want earnie to stay, but 4.5 mill is a lot of cash???????

I can only agree

We have other options and around 4.5million would give us a better chance of permanently signing a quality centre half (If BD is allowed to use the money and ND isn't thinking it is a way to get a little bit of cash back in his wallet)

I find it weird that people are treating this is actual news, considering Vital Forest's track record this summer.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but I wouldn't get too worried just because it's on Vital....

My boro mate reckons Sky is reporting that Boro have bid £5m for Hulse which makes more sense considering they have just got Dickov on loan.

It doesn't really make sense, as Dickov was brought in due to Hulse being their only (half) fit striker.

Funny if true though.

I think this could be another case of jumping the Brian. (Gunn)

Yes if the bid has come in and we would be fools to turn it down, but one suspects Earnie will be a forest player at the end of the transfer window...

Hulse I hear is a dead cert to leave Direby however....

I wouldn't let Earnie go to 'boro, but agree with the points above. My reason for not letting him go to 'boro, is that they are divisional rivals who recognised weakness is their lack of bite in front of goal. Why would we help improve a rival?

By that logic we shouldn't ever sell a player to any other club it is feasible we might have to play again.

Not really. If they had good strikers who we're scoring lots of goals, then it wouldn't make a lot of difference. But when we play them in the league, would you rather they had Earnshaw or Alliadiere up front?

So what if we sold him to someone else and then drew them in the cup?

Not really bothered by the cup, as we're not likely to be winning one any time soon!

I'd turn it down without a second thought. Whats the point of showing ambition if we then negate it by selling our best players? If we want to compete at the top of this league with teams like boro we need our best players.

We have attackers to scare any team in this league. If ND carries on showing the ambition he has been this year the days of boro being a bigger club than us will be gone.

Keep our squad, sign Bale and Shittu or similar and we will be there or there abouts at the end of the season.

Its a good fee but am inclined to agree with Clifford. You do not get any where by selling your top scorer, especially when we are not in dire need of the money.

Just to play Devils Advocate...... what if selling Earnie would finance those two purchases. Would you do it then?
