Don't know if it's libel or not, but it is definitely a load of bollockshes just wiping his nose.

Anyone that's done a key knows you don't hold it like that or shove the whole thing up your snout.

John Textor did a podcast in Brazil where he was asked directly by one of their supporters what is his relationship with Forest & Marinakis and why does it seem like we are never benefitting from it.

It was quite wordy but he said along the lines of there is no official relationship but Marinakis loves Brazil & Textor likes that we can move players between clubs because seemingly he promises players he signs that there is a pathway to the Premier League & he seemingly gives us discounts because we do a lot of business.

Then he was asked why did he sell Igor Jesus & Jair Cuhna so cheap. With Igor it was only us & Ipswich that asked about him & he had knee issues, with Cuhna he didn't specify but it turns out we recommended him to Botafogo to begin with, so reading between the lines we paid what they did because of that reason (and kind of another example of the relationship being so one sided).

Good on "Big" Evanglos!

Who does not love a nice tidy Brasilian!

French article about Textor's relationship with the boss;

John Textor's surprising confession about his relationship with Nottingham Forest

“What I can say about our relationship with Marinakis is that, even though we don’t own Nottingham Forest and Marinakis doesn’t own any shares in Eagle Football, he has truly become the partner we wanted to have with Crystal Palace,” Textor declared

It relates to this recent 4 hour (!) recording he gave on a Botofago's youtube channel (in English)and there may be other snippets in the video which could be of interest though it covers may other Botofago issues no doubt (plus OL and Palace).

So Textor signed 4 players from Botafogo to Lyon. Only one actually played for Lyon. Igor Jesus was bought for 41.5m euros, Jair Cunha was bought for 18.5m euros. Lyon now owe Botafogo the money even though they didn't play for them. Forest signed Igor for £16.5m and Jair for £10.2m

Is any of that remotely true?

Eh?? At what point did Jesus or Cunha ever sign for Lyon?

I can't help but think this is some bullshit nonsense created by Textor.

It came out today in the French media that Textor gave Lyon contracts to Igor Jesus, Jair Cunha, Luiz Henrique and Thiago Almada for really inflated fees but at the same time Botafogo kept the rights to the players. Only Almada actually played for Lyon on loan. None of the deals were actually registered with the French league. The deals were to get them a 100m loan but it has now backfired.
Investment Companies are now trying to claim 120m euros from Lyon for the contracts that were signed.

So none of them actually signed then. I thought third party ownership was completely banned including holding registrations since by FIFA since the Carlos Tevez saga too so they could be never they could never actually be Lyon players?

Sounds like Textor has tried to pull a fast one here.

You have either misenterpreted the article or the article is wrong.

This was reported in the summer. He tried to sign those players for Lyon in the summer but the league blocked the deals due to their financial issues.

Botafogo then claimed against Lyon loss of money as they claim they had to sell to us at a cut price.

We signed the players from Botafogo, if we had signed them from Lyon they would have been made public because they are a public company that disclose all their transfer deals. So it's not true.

The seven-time French champions recently received reminder letters from MCCP Investment Partners. Why? Lyon must repay the money they paid for the acquisition of five Botafogo players who never wore the French club's jersey, which left the Weavers with a debt of €120 million.

L'Équipe details how Igor Jesus, Luis Enrique, Thiago Almada, Jair Cunha and Jefferson Savarino were transferred to Lyon without playing a single match (apart from Almada, who was loaned out), and the deals were not registered with the LFP. None of these players ever played at the Groupama stadium, and some, such as Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha, were later sold at bargain prices to Nottingham Forest. Textor himself confirmed these transactions.

Yes, that is just explaining what I explained.

Botafogo are just claiming that Lyon owe them money because the league blocked the deals. They never signed for Lyon and we never paid Lyon any money, it would be public record if we did.

The article is poorly worded.

Yes, exactly.

Basically when Lyon were in financial trouble in the Summer Eagle Football Holdings (Textor) lent them €87m. Textor got this money from MCCP as factoring on the revenue Botafogo would get from selling the players to Lyon. As you say it never happened but MCCP want their repayments. Textor is trying to get this money from Lyon.

Textor should write a book on how not to run an MCO model. He'd make far more money from that than any of his club holdings.

If I saw John Textor in a pub, chatting up a Cheetah, I would think to myself "He's trying to pull a fast one".

Likewise, here. And he will - I suspect - have about as much success.
