You'll find players will join us just because we're in Europe. They might think they'll play for us for one season, make a decent impression and then move on.

We won't be able to compete with the top clubs still but if it's us Vs the likes of Brentford or West Ham they'll come to us.
I agree, but by the names so far it looks like we are fishing in Arsenal level waters which as you say are out of our reach.

If people think EM will sit on his hands with CL football incoming they are nuts. He’ll find a way.

He will, IMO. We'll just likely get a huge fine for the privilege. That's just the reality, unfortunately.

The 2024-25 season has a 80% squad cost ratio which Villa will likely fail, even after CL money and £125m in sales in Summer 2024.

2025-26 will be even harder for clubs like us as the ratio drops to 70% of revenue!

For example, if Forest has revenue of £200m (no Europe) or £300m (with Europe) then the following applies:

No Europe:
- PSR - We could spend the full £200m (plus up to £105m in losses aggregated over 3 years, so average of £35m a year. Spending power to meet PSR rules = £235m average in 25-26.

Europe:
- PSR - We could spend the full £300m plus aggregated losses (average £35m). therefore, £335m spending power.

- UEFA squad cost rules - we can spend 70% of £300m. Therefore, to meet UEFA's rules out squad 2025 spending is capped at £210m. No loss allowance provided. However, in reality as this is assessed for just 2025 calendar year, we'd only benefit from 4 months of European football and half a year (or less) of greater sponsorship, so the revenue won't immediately be much higher. Factoring that in makes the spending power even lower! Maybe as low as £185m using my example figures plus we'd need to factor in large qualification bonus costs which are included in the costs side of the calculations in 2025.

The above is the reality (not day-dreaming). Fortunately, UEFA don't seem to be anywhere near as strict as the PL. So I expect the big man to breach the UEFA rules and pay a huge multi million pound fine, but we'll wait and see.

Looks likely Juventus will be changing manager which may make Luiz stay and fight for his place with Mancini taking over

Good post. I've seen comments on social media that believe if we achieve CL football it's going to essentially be multiple £50m+ players all coming in. It's both unrealistic and highly irresponsible if it's not absolutely spot on. These players would all be coming in on £150k a week minimum to go along with the contract renewals of our current players that would want the same.

A club like ours really needs those really big money signings (in relative terms) to be slam dunks as we can't afford to swallow up the losses on loads of big money flops like the Sky 6 can.

We won't spent £50m+ on players because we'll probably end up buying about 10 players and we simply can't afford that level of outlay.

If you're looking at squad building for a CL campaign then you probably want:
1x keeper - £10m
1x full back - £10m
1x centre back - £10m
1x CM: £20m
2x wingers - £50m total
1x AM - £15m
1x striker - £30m

Total outlay of £150m when you consider agent fees. Amortise and add wages and you're looking at £50m a year uplift, which should broadly be covered by increased revenue: prize money, sponsorship etc.

And that doesn't account for any players leaving. If we got those players above that would mean Miguel, Sangare, Sosa, Jota and maybe Taiwo on the out-pile, which might get you £50m-£60m back in return if you're lucky, plus wages saved from players who's contract expired and we don't renew (Boly, Moreno)

Also doesn't account for any player sales where we don't really have a choice: Think teams coming in for Murillo or MGW at £80m+.

Based on the finances, I genuinely think we'll stick to our identity talent a good prices (last year of contract, South America etc) recruitment strategy as well as focusing on retaining our core team.

But what Europe would mean is we're even more attractive to the best talent around the world.

I don't think we'll attract the Gyökeres, Cunha, Osimhen's of the world (they'll go to more established top clubs), but no harm trying.

But I do think Europe will mean we get the Marmoush, Victor Roque type deals over the line this Summer.

P.S. I'd personally go for big Nik's mate... Vlahović. Likely available, right age (25), knows where the goal is etc. Maybe just in that out of reach category though.

Vlahovic is on huge wages and is slow, I think he’d struggle in the prem. the way we play I think delap is perfect for us

Anthony Elanga, a player for Nottingham Forest, has a top speed of 35.9 km/h.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been clocked at a top speed of 34.88 km/h (21.6 mph) this season.

Dusan Vlahovic's top speed is recorded at 34.1 km/h.

Not much in it really between them 3.

The loan with obligation to buy is likely to be a feature of our business this Summer, as it should help us - in the short term - get good quality in without blowing the UEFA SCR calculations completely out of the water!

Note - I doubt we'll have any issues at all with PL PSR for 2025-26.

Totally not happened for him in Turin.
In his last two seasons with Villa 93 matches, 7,500 minutes, 17 goals and 16 assists.
He's only played 800 mins this season (Serie A and CL), with 0 goals and 0 assists.
Has he been playing a deeper role, when selected, for Juve?

When ive watched him he has been playing as a 6 and 8 and ive seen him play a 10 as well so it looked like Motta was playing him anywhere in less important matches
