I read that Luiz suffers from a chronic leg muscle condition.
After playing his muscles suffer from a sort of oedema, and only rest and light exercise can alleviate the condition, which is likely to have repeat flare ups.
I think we probably have to face reality: the length of time to sort the loan deal and the conditions for the purchase option indicate Forest were aware, and have tried to hedge their bets.
I think he is going to be in for a couple of games, then out for a few... shame is, he is the only recruit that actually has the experience and the class to do well in this league.

A google search for "Douglas Luiz" & "oedema" shows 10 results, 2 of which are from another Forest forum (I didn't know there were any) and the other 8 are unrelated to either Douglas Luiz or oedemas, so I would say it's pretty unlikely that the whole world is unaware of this but Captain Sinister (or whoever told him) is.

In the nicest possible way, I’d not paid that much attention to him before he rocked up here and though he was a bit of a fancy Dan player, not quite Barry McCay but that sort. He isn’t! Proper got stuck in tonight - very impressive alongside Anderson.

Strong in the tackle and can pick out the right pass to keep us ticking along. He's going to be huge for us this season if we're going to get something out of it.

I agree Eddie. The strength and skill he showed when he went past three Porto players in the 2nd-half was sublime. I'm not sure if he's up to three games in a week at the moment, and so I wouldn't be surprised if he starts on the bench on Sunday?
