News that Doughty's venture fund are to commit £300m to buying The Equity Trust should scupper any talk that Doughty Hanson are skint ending the speculation that Doughty's personal wealth has taken a hammering.

I imagine that Doughty is pleased to be involved in some transfer speculation today, even if its not Forest-related.

No but the money is there in the first place. If he is willing to spend that much on a new business venture, he would not let another one rot would he.
 
Agreed, however not all people are as in a hurry as most football supporters. Forest seem to be coming along very nicely now under Doughty and I'm sure he's happy we are on target too.

It's not his money he's spending. He owns a hedge/investment fund: other people give him their money to spend. He takes 4% up front and then 25% of any profit. Good gig if you can persuade people you're kosher.
 
Aye the financial equivalent of reading the future with tea leaves.

Can't knock it though a job is a job.

I clearly meant going forward every season is not possible but overall progression is.

In the same way, you can't win every hand of poker but the good players invariably win the tournament.
 
I'm pretty happy with the way the club is going, albeit slowly.

But i'm sure the ***** aren't however. I fear doing so well last season has raised the fan's expectations higher too quickly.

It's amazing how quickly people forget our previous owners( Nigel Wray et al) and think Doughty is bad...

At least we did get promoted to the Premiership under the previous regime something which I doubt will ever happen with Doughty at the club.

It came at a huge cost. Players were being sold without the managers permission..the club was ****ed for years after that...

oh but i'm sure that one season of Forest getting raped was worth it. What is it with football and not seeing the bigger picture?

So how long out of the top flight are you willing to wait before you become critical of ND leadership?.
 
i seem to remember one of the biggest reasons for us being ****ed was the money doughty allowed platt to piss up the wall in his first season alot of the debt he has had to repay was generated during this time.

Being in the top flight and criticising the owner are not linked as far as I'm concerned. We don't have a divine right to be there and need to plot a sound course which is what is happening.

However, being in division 1 and the owner are linked. Take another look at the squad and randomly take out another 3 or 4 due to long term injuries. ( Something not factored into the GREAT plan). The only course being plotted is a flirt with relegation.
 
The thing is if ND decides to sell and the club could find a buyer how much of the debt would he want paying back to himself?. Every year we spend relying on his hand outs are more debt owed to him, so if he holds all the strings regarding bringing in players that are likely to achieve this aim and he decides not to sign anyone this leaves the club a harder task in doing this, which means another year outside self sufficency. Then we start the scenario again.
