He's a good keeper - or at least he was last time I saw him play a couple of years ago. Think we were looking at him as first choice a couple of years back.
You'd think would push Sels.

I remember not long ago I was moaning about teams bringing £150m worth of talent off the bench & wonder how we were supposed to compete - now we are doing the same. We are certainly going for it this season (when don’t we under EM?)This squad we're assembling is ridiculous.
I had us down as finishing mid table, but with the quality being brought in throughout the squad, we should be in the top 4/5 mix
Wow, quite some statement. One to watch then.I think he is better than Sels.
They are both quite similar. Sels as we know isn't a particularly flashy keeper nor is he fancy playing out from the back, he does the basic stuff well and so doesn't get the notice he should.Wow, quite some statement. One to watch then.
He was first choice until last season but the Turkish lad they are playing is a bit younger and might better meet home grown figures if they have that there. Or maybe they think they can sell him and then use that money without weakening the team too much. Jose can be a bit weird sometimes with decisions but they end up working. Or maybe he doesn't want to stay and they've put the team first (a bit like when McLeish f**ked off Camp and played Darlow instead).Don't think it's possible to be better than Sels at present. Can't think of a single keeper who is.
There's a few at the same level maybe, but not better... and a second choice at Fenerbache, while decent, won't be.
Not to say we shouldn't sign him - he'd be decent competition you'd think.
Honestly, I wouldn't swap any of them for Sels. Donaruma is probably the pick of the bunch and surprisingly young, but even so I'm team Matz!He was first choice until last season but the Turkish lad they are playing is a bit younger and might better meet home grown figures if they have that there. There are keepers better than Sels, but there's not much in it. In the PL there's Raya, Alisson, Ederson (though he's off), Martinez. Then looking around the national sides, the French lads (Samba and Maignan) are decent, Donnarumma, Unai Simon (despite that massive f*** up in that 5-3 in Euro 21), Belgium still have Kepa and Courtois as well as Sels, and also, I'm sure @Strummer would say whoever Der Mannschaft has is good as well. Not saying Sels isn't a top drawer keeper because we all know he is but whilst his kicking isn't a weakness he doesn't have the variety of options some others do, who are equal to him or better in other areas.
DL is also 30 so is a bit younger and whilst there's probably still plenty of time in Sels gives us a bit longer to find a younger replacement.
Me neither, though they are better options having them around won't improve much, we don't need a sweeper keeper, imagine the keeper playing a 5 yard pass to Nikola and he'd be like, err whyHonestly, I wouldn't swap any of them for Sels. And even Donnarumma has just been effectively bounced out of PSG by Luis Enrique.Honestly, I wouldn't swap any of them for Sels. Donaruma is probably the pick of the bunch and surprisingly young, but even so I'm team Matz!
They did the same thing with Keylor as well. And even Donnarumma has just been effectively bounced out of PSG by Luis Enrique.
