I think the modded version eventually got shut down by the club because it didn't bring in any hits for them and the likes of MA and to a lesser extent ND were tired of being ribbed on their own time. Joe Kinnear had a good old moan as well, as out of character as that was. Not sure Paul Hart was anything to do with it, to be honest.
I reckon most of them have a sneak around, if not here, then elsewhere. You'd need thick skin though.

If they are internet savvy enough to do it then they would. People generally have fragile ego's and are desperate to know what people think of them. After managers and other players, what we think matters most. If we decide we don't like a player, we can make his playing life hell.

I would doubt many players would monitor Forest Banter because their egos are too sensitive. However I am sure Billy Davies is shrewed and tough enough to do so. Dedicated fans are the eyes and ears of the club.
Further I am sure that Billy would not be shy in directing a player to the unofficial blogs if he was playing like a "lazy cnut" but argued he wasn't!
