Does anybody still not want promotion?

I suspect even Billy Davies has put aside his reservations from earlier in the season and wants to give the Premiership another crack.

But I wondered if anyone still has doubts about the prospect of Forest going up "too early"?

Or is it a case of, now we're so close we can smell it, you want to take a big bite of that juicy Premiership pie..?

To me it's a no lose situation.

If we go up I'll be happy because we're in the Premier league and back in the big time.

If we don't go up we can probably look forward to another season like this one, which I for one have really enjoyed.

Either would suit me.

I want us to receive the £60m as soon as possible. Anyone who doesn't want us to get promotion is frankly stupid.

My major concern is that it might not go this way at all. If we do miss out and stay in the Championship next season, expectation is going to be huge, and I can't help thinking it's been good for the team (and the supporters really) that none of us have really expected such a good season.

I want promotion and I want it this year :)

Exactly, promotion would be obviously the preferred option but it's hardly likely to be a disaster if we miss out.

If we continue to miss out it would get rather irksome however but it's fair to say we're well ahead of schedule as things stand.

I want promotion but just for the cash windfall for new players - i wouldn't entirely be bothered if we got relegated next season.

Yes. Two months i was " i aint bothered about going to Wembley", "i'd rather stay in the Championship" but now i want it. :)

And so what would happen to all those new players if we got relegated?
I will be devastated if we get up and get relegated in our first season.

Paul Harts 5 year plan?lol

I jest, I jest.

That said though, I really hope we go up this year. Its long overdue, after all the false dawns and disasters that have befallen our club in the last decade.

I just want to be able to watch match of the day again, without that sad ping of dissapointment that we arent on it.

Get up, take the money and use it as building block for the future.

I'd like to go up, and would be expecting, and perhaps accept, that we would come straight back down, but be on more of a solid financial foundation to come straight back the following season !!

then we have parachue payments to buy better players, get promoted again, get more parachue payments and then cement ourselves as a premiership side. a'la birmingham/west brom.

I cant see why anybody wouldnt want to see us get batterd every week on MOTD and roundly critised by experts such as Lawrenson and Dixon.

In all seriousness, I think if we are honest with ourselves, we would love it if we went up.

I've softened somewhat from my 'it's too soon' view of earlier in the season.

Now I'll take what comes, promotion would be an awesome achievement and a massive financial boost to the club, but failure to do so won't destroy what has been an excellent and progressive season.

If we don't go up we start next season on no points in the Championship - As we were this season, and we have to do it all again. There's no guarantee that we'd be a better side in the Championship next year (please see 2003/04 season).

Starting next season in the Premier league on no points - now thats real progress!

Of course I want us to go up. It would be a wonderful end to a wonderful season. Of course, if we did, then I could start worrying about playing at that higher level and survival!lol

The financial benefits for the club make it a necessity at some point - So now is as good a time as any really.

And if we can finish 3rd then no one can say we don't deserve it.

However, if we don't go up and we crash and burn in the playoffs, it will still have been a wonderful season which should have given everyone great hope for the future.

I think most sides measure progress on how they finish a season, not start one before a ball is kicked ;)

Its preferable to watching us get battered at leicester, or lose at places like barnsely, derby, coventry or preston- whilst having to watch savage's smug face prattle on about how great he is and listening to manshin banshin whittling on about how much of an achievement it is for forest to even be in the second division play offs.

I concur with Winnits' sentiments. Earlier on in the season I feared we might be battered week in week out in the Premiership but now quite happy to accept it. Naturally if we do not get promoted it will not tarnish what has been the most enjoyable season for some time!

If we go up, can I continue to slag off the Premiership for being full of overpaid primadonnas?

What I will say is this. What's so great about the Premier league? We won't ever win it again. We'll be fighting to either beat relegation, which will be good, then what? 8th in the table is about as good as it will ever get. At least in the lower leagues we have something to fight for.

I'm just not sure what I'm looking for anymore.

Yes because it is. As long as there aren't a load of overpaid primadonnas in Forest shirts I don't care. There would be no finer sight than Guy Moussi slide tackling Theo Walcott, Steve Gerrard, Dmitar Berbatov, Michael Ballack or Craig Bellamy into the crowd and watching their manager blow his top on Final Score.
