Does any Forest fan actually see Leicester as a local Direby ?

The fox buggerers seem to think that us and direby are their greatest foe's. Is it just me that see's them as the annoying younger brother who keeps nicking your stashed away page 3's and telling your mum ?

Surely the only local direby that really means summat is us and the scum ? I raise the question as I was having a natter to a direby supporting mate today. We both said that we would love to be in the same leagues, purely for the matches. However, when it came to leicestercershierciershireiscerr fc (or as the yanks pronounce it, leechistershire) we pretty much agreed that there is as much hate as there is for graham norton when he is doing his 'too gay' act (not the Blackburn midfielder)

Oh and why do the mersey direby scum relate to us and direby as a historic spat ??? Surely a mersey clash is purely a load of blokes in afro's and tache's saying 'eh eh eh eh' for 90 mins ?

Obviously no rivalry will ever come close to that between us and D*rby and I know that they feel no different. However, I've always thought of Notts County as our annoying younger brother (even though, ironically, their club is older than ours!) and have never sensed any rivalry between us and them from our side of the Trent (although they hate us because they see our view of them as patronising).

In terms of Leicester, I don't really feel any animosity towards them but see them as rivals more than Notts. However, I still think matches between us and them have a degree of local competitiveness about them, just without the intensity and vitriol of clashes between us and the Sheep. Nevertheless, it goes without saying that I always want us to beat them (as I would obviously want us to beat anyone!) but with more passion than I want us to beat other clubs which we have no rivalry at all. The reason for this? So we can justiably claim to be the best club in the East Midlands.

I f***ing hate Leicester, coming from near melton mowbray then most of the lads support the bin raiders and i dont know a single derby fan.
For that reason the Leicester Forest games mean even more to me than the Forest Derby games.
The day after the league cup defeat wasnt great.
Leicester are a nothing team, never done anything great, have no real rivals, nothing, but their fans are so bloody annoying and pathetic, anyone who comes into regular contact with 'them' will understand, I would prefer 6 points of Leicester next year than Derby

Agree totally.
They need new geography teachers to explain to them the distance from Cov and the distance from Nottingham.
The only time they acheived anything was with a Forest man in charge.
I live near Loughborough so I know exactly what you mean, I don't know who will finish 2nd but if you listen to any of the deadheads 1st is in the bag already. Doh!

Couldn't really give a flying hoot about Leicester. My only hatred towards them is getting away with paying off that massive debt! I was hoping they would have rotted in League one for a few seasons!

I think the recent cup game illustrates the 'rivalry' perfectly.

Forest fans weren't interested enough thus allowing the bin-dippers to have the whole Bridgford End.

I don't think games with them could be considered a proper derby, but they are always quite interesting because of the added spice to the atmosphere.

Probably the Derby game is bigger because more people in Notts get stuck at work/down the pub in a slagging match with people from Derbyshire.

Look at the map ...

Nottingham itself is on the West edge of the county, right next to Derbyshire, and Derby, which is on the East of Derbyshire.

Meanwhile, this map show Leicester isn't nearly as close.

its funny, they hate us because we dont give a shit about them.

The bottom map is ridiculous. It makes Skegness seem as important as Derby. We all know that Skeggy is much more important!!!

OOhhh, I love a good bit of mappage. South Yorkshire blatantly is in the East Midlands isn't it. You even get called Duck there, which in my academic opinion is categoric proof  .

But yes, you're absolutely right, Nottm and Derby are very close to being part of the same conurbation, like Leeds and Bradford, Wolverhampton and Birmingham or even Mansfield and Sutton in Ashfield :D so it's no surprise that we don't get on. Add a bit of Cloughie factor, trophy envy and city envy (like penis envy) from Derby, manager and player swapping, wife swapping, often in the same league, Ted McMinn + Psycho etc etc and you've got yourself a rivalry, whilst leicester fans stand on the edge asking if they can play. They really should try and whip something up with Coventry because no bugger is bothered about them either.

So Fester should really concern themselves with Hinckley Town then
or Stamford, one street in Stamford in Rutland interstingly

Leicester fan I know, almost seems desperate when trying to convince me (and himself) that Forest/Leicester is the big Midlands derby. They're like a third wheel that no one really cares if they're around or not, but are always trying to get a piece of the action.

Leicester have always meant more to me growing up in Loughborough meaning that school was always split between Forest & Leicester (and Man Utd ) fans. Almost no sheep though.

The only aminosity I have for Leicester is over the whole administration business. Other than that, I wouldn't begrudge them success (as long as Forest were doing better, of course).

I dont see Leicester as a rival any more than Coventry or Sheff Weds. Our local rivals are Derby & Notts County. Leicester's local rivals are Coventry. We've never been local rivals.

To the outside world (I.E. not Forest fans) it's a big midlands derby game. But most of us forest fans couldn't care less. They care soooooooo much more than us about the games.

i only know one fan who lived in nottingham and was a fester fan, he hated forest and didnt take much to wind him up...fester who ?? is all it took, its our patronising manor that winds them up, the fact that we simply dont care !!..i couldnt care less about them..

Who else thinks we should take them up on their offer and officially declare Leicester as our main rivals, therefore pissing Derby off further and stopping them using our fame to get themselves noticed :D

Would we then be treated to a new thread every time Leicester made a signing or would you still not be able to resist?
