Not actually very accurate, as the potential finishing positions take into account only the current points total of those above.
It is impossible for some teams above us not to be given more points.
The lowest all round total would be for every game we're not involved in to finish as a draw (2 poitns give out, as opposed to 3)
In which case, every team who didn't play us would have at least the same number of points as they have games left. Taking this into account, our actual highest finishing position is probably closer to low mid table than playoff spots.

You also have to take into account that the other 23 Championship clubs could go into administration, effectively handing us ten further points.
Although in reality, I think drawing at home to Swansea probably harmed our chances of automatic promotion and we may well have to settle for the play-offs.
