First off, Only signed up today, so hello to all existing members!!

I am obviously as frustrated as all other fans with the lack of signings going on at the City Ground, what with the new kit being released and the big friendly game tomorrow against Lyon, I cant help but feel that there is something missing in the form of a few new faces..?

I have been thinking tho, and don't actually think there should be that much disappointment from people if we don't manage to land Pratley. Granted, he is a great midfielder and arguably one of Swansea best players,

But.. I think we may be alright in that area if we sign players in other positions.

With the additions of Whittingham, a new striker and a left back, I can see our midfield being something along the lines of -

Whittingham Cohen Mckenna Anderson

and with Moussi, Mcgugan and Majewski available on top of this, I am struggling to see where Pratley would slot in? Because for Pratley to take part in the squad, he'd have to replace either Cohen, Mckenna or Majewski and he doesn't do that in my eyes??

This is obviously dependant on us signing Whittingham, or another left winger.. Don't know why we didn't just try and stick with Boyd, buy who knows what goes on at the AP!!!!

I was told he was a lazy bastard in training, if that is the case it's no wonder he didn't get into the team that often.

Totally agree. I've said similar things throughout the weeks. If offered the choice of Pratley or Whittingham right now, I'd choose Whittingham any day.

I don't think central midfield needs touching really. I would prefer us get a wide player and free up Cohen for his natural position.

Yes, in my eyes. He's a more accomplished, more physical, all round more experienced and better championship midfielder than the likes of Moussi and McGugan, and over a long season he would be great to have. When McKenna needs a rest you need someone with the same presence to replace him and vocal influence. Players like Majewski are also fine at home when you have a lot of the ball and he can cause damage, but for tough away days at the likes of Burnley, Preston, Sheff Utd, Hull, Barnsley, S****horpe, etc etc you need players with more physicality who will be up for the midfield battle, and not get lost and overpowered by more physical opponents. That said, a goalscoring midfielder is also a priority.

If it were me, I would def consider letting the likes of Lewis leave (either permanently or on loan) while Moussi still has a lot to do in my estimation to prove he can cut it at this level and this country

Pratley is a qualtity player, he would make a good replacement captain if needed, however, I understand what you are saying about another centre midfield player and what Forest really need is left sided players in defence and midfield. McKenna, Cohen, Majewski, McGugan, Moussi Thornhill all play there so its not as if it is a priority.

Yes we do, more so than wittingham.

So who would you play left wing, or would you splash more cash on a different winger??

and, who would you drop to play Pratley??

Say we land Whittingham for £1.5 million, Swansea want around £2.5 million for Pratley..

That would give us an extra £1 million if we went for Whittingham, which could be spent on Nicky Shoreys high wage demands, or the loan fee for Patrick Van Aanholt..

What would you prefer - Whittingham and PVA or Pratley??

Agree. Whilst Whittingham might not have always scored massive amounts, he has been a solid and consistant performer at this level, which is what you want to start with, goals can come later. Like having a proper left back does for the defence, having a proper wide player will bring balance to the midfield which is lacking when Cohen is stuck out there.

And if we had that wide player, we would have Cohen, Moussi, McKenna, Majewski, McGugan and maybe Thornhill to play in the centre. At the moment we have just Anderson and McCleary who can play out wide and, for whatever reason, Davies like to play Tyson there instead.

I'd say we need them all, equally.

We don't have anyone to play left back, left midfield or just behind the front two.

Pratley is strong, quick, passes well and links the midfield to the strikers perfectly. We'd score a lot more goals from midfield with him in the team, especially when playing 4-5-1. You'd be able to play Earnie up front on his own with an advanced Pratley also, as he can play target man if required.

Equally though, we're in absolute dire need of a natural left wide player to give us width. Ando can't do it effectively, he'd be much better on the right. We also need a forward thinking left back to overlap and give us even more width, like Gunter does so effectively on the right.

If we go Whittingham, Pratley and a solid left back in, I reckon we'd be in the top two. Without: midtable.

Welcome new poster, I had a pretty good guess that this summer would've been pretty fustrating, coupled together with the dismal display of our national team and the recent hot weather I have found it more productive to take a break from worrying about who we are signing and not signing and spending the time relaxing.
Sadly it seems the plot has been misplaced for the majority of posters and this forum, like others has become a frenzy for shit rumours, that even surpass my own crap rumours of the past. With these shit rumours, there seems to be a self appointed firing squad ready to shoot down every rumour and hound the poster. A situation often witnessed on other forums but now sadly a common theme here....

Not bothered really - I would just like to see some movement - some intent and some positivity from the club to show us that last seasons signings and efforts have not been wasted.

Last year we made some great signings & finished 3rd in the league - to me that was 'half the job done'. This season I expected the other half to be completed by achieving automatic promotion, which meant topping the squad up with those quality players we so badly needed towards the end of last season - Unfortunately at this moment in time it doesn't look good but I still live in hope - So come on Marthur & Co. get your cheque book & pens out and get some ferker signed up.

We the mob demand a signing/blood sacrifice to appease us! We don't give a flying shit who it is or if we don't need him! Another keeper would do at this point!

On the basis that we are likely to be selling Tyson, Wilson, McGugan, Cohen and anyone else for whom we are offered pounds sterling, Id say we do need him.

Add to that the ones that Billy doesnt rate / want / is fit...........Bennett and Thornhill and probably Lynch we definitely need people.

Shame that hes not coming really.

I dont mind the club selling anyone if the right price comes in - every player has his price.

The worrying part is that we arent bringing in anyone to replace the ones departing.

If its money and we need to wheel and deal, thats fine. Tell us so. Dont go offering 200k for Thierry Henry and then tell us we're actively going after players. Its insulting to our intelligence.
