Derby Fans are becoming Jealous in regards to our Budget

Went to my sisters house yesterday as i've not seen her or the kids over christmas, she lives in a nice posh house in wollaton and her husbands got a top directors job and earns like 90k a year. Well anyway, he plays golf quite a lot and has won a few tournaments in his time and 1 or 2 on some of nottinghams courses. It just so happens earlier in the year he was doubled up in a tournament with someone very high up in the boardroom at forest and as you'd expect over the course of 18 holes and drinks afterwards they got talking about forests finances as this is one of my brother in laws areas.

It turns out that this year was the year that it has to happen a forest need to get promotion becausetime and money is running out, it was agreed that one last push was needed but it would invariably cost money but it has to happen as ND's arms are getting shorter and his pockets deeper. A lot of it my brother in law has forgot but i jogged his memory when i mentioned the world cup and forest and that they havent even got a ground and the problems with the council. Turns out forest didnt want to win it and didnt expect to either, they are worried that they wont be able to afford the rent to the council for this new ground.

Alledgedly it seems money is getting a bit thin on the ground and without promotion things look shakey for forest.

This is all i know, its quite obvious without being nasty to forest fans about it but times are hard for everyone including us but at least derby are trying to save money where forest are trying to spend their way out of trouble. Yes i guess we must be a laughing stock buying lower league players or getting loans in but the seems to be a method in the americans madness, they can obviously see something we cant, we just need to survive, forest need to get promoted

If we really didn't want to get the World Cup then the bids from Derby and Leicester must have been awful to lose to us when we weren't trying. :D :D

1. We haven't in reality spent that much - quite a bit, but we're hardly the Man City of the Championship.

2. As if anyone in a position to know anything at Forest would start discussing the intimate details of Forest's finances (or indeed the World Cup bid) with a complete stranger over a game of golf.

Absurd.

hahahha those poor derby fans. the financial situation at forest is fine, if it wasnt i dont think the board, staff and players would have said they would settle for consolidation at the start of the season. And in most cases teams that end up desperate to gain promotion, are those who have gambled on staying with the money in the premier league, and failed such as leeds, norwich, charlton and nearly birmingham. as for derby i think the word is..... F***ED

I think i'am right in saying our Board that makes the decisions are: Nigel Doughty,Mark Arthur and John Pelling? I know Doughty only owns 85% of the club with the other 15% being owned by Nottingham Forest PLC headed by ex Chairman Eric Barnes.I can't see the main 3 discussing finances to any Tom Dick Or Harry.

Saw that the other day, there is a really good post from a Derby fan, obviously the one who has the brain cells, lacking in the others, who eloquently argues against this. In all fairness I think the overwhelming majority of Sheep posters take this with a pinch of salt

Oh dear.

What a crock of ****

The poster - in my opinion - thinks they know something. However as most Forest fans know, if it doesn't come from (either) the Chairman or Chief Executive, it isn't worth wiping your bum on.

At last count (according to the Sunday Times) our Chairman was worth (something like) £170m - he owns the club, and if money is needed, he will provide it, or, as has been said before, he will seek alternative investment.

Forest have the funds - if required - to invest in *both* the playing side, and non-playing side, of the club. Regardless of whether we play at the City Ground, or (some proposed new stadium) we will have money available.

That is all we need to know!

When the chips are down and you have just lost 4-1 to one of the worst teams in the division AND been booed off at HOME again, I guess the best thing to do is console yourself by making up a "my dad's, sister's uncle's, ****flaps, etc." story which a large proportion of your desperate fans would like to believe. For all they know it might just be a forest fan on the wind-up but they have followed like the sheep that they are.

What a f***ing joke that club is.

Billy Davies = manager of the month.

Nigel Clough = dead man walking.

I don't think it's been like that for a long while. Probably about 10 years since the PLC was delisted and ND took 100% ownership.

May 9 2005: Nigel Doughty announces he will clear the club’s ‘short-term debt’ in exchange for acquiring the remaining 15% of club shares outside of his control

You are right mate thanks

Derby's world are crumbling around them, and to be honest i just dont give a shit, but ,.... i feel sorry for one person and one person only, and that Nigel Clough.

He enjoyed nil success at Derby, he was never there..all his success came with Forest and all that time having his father manage the team he grew up with and into..... and then gets pushed into the Derby job.

I wouldn't say pushed into the Derby job! Its a good opportunity for a non league manager to take! What makes you say that??

Could I just please remind you of all them gloating Notts Bouncy fans and look where they are now... ;)

Let's just leave them to believe what they want, we are better than this!

There is an intelligentish Direby fan on there who says that we're at a completely different level to them now. Something to think about is the standard of players both clubs have bought, they're shopping at Lidl whilst we're shopping at Waitrose.

If it were a case that we were 3 years into trying to go up having spent 5/10m each season, Id be inclined to give the story the benefit of the doubt.

However, as we stayed up by the skin of our teeth last year and have bought in a handful of players - its broadly speaking the same squad with a few loans becoming permanent - then I very much doubt the expectation was "promotion or bust" as our woolly chum would have us believe.

Agree that we cannot continually chuck money at buying our way out, but I would hope that the cash spent this time around was more to stabilise the club with a view to pushing on next season.

Where we are at now is an unexpected bonus in my view.

It's not all about the money, for a long time we've needed the right manager in charge. There is no point in being the richest club in the world and have a crap manager. The manager is the most important ingredient. Get that right and everything else will fall in place. Money or no money!

It's just a reason for trying to cheer themselves up ! They have no reason or proof how much debt we have and how much of a struggle.

Doughty isn't a fool. A brilliant businessman obviously, and someone like him wouldn't throw millions at a team if the club would risk going bust. If we were in that situation, we would be doing exactly what Derby are doing ! Trimming the wage bill and selling our assetts.

If they want to believe it them fine by me. The recent months performances, world cup etc has them in a situation they find it hard to stomach, being forced to watch their rivals (they still look down on) steamrollering the championship and heading the right direction.

Bitterness is a nasty bug, it breeds all sorts of lies to keep the spirit up. Funny how all the directors are 'suddenly' discussing their business with every man and his dog ! If there was any credit to these stories they would be over the papers, what with football clubs financial positions at the forefront of the news.

Let them make these stories up if it makes them feel a bit better about their dire position. At least it's a refreshing break from the (free) attendance shot !
