Haha

I know this is not Forest related, but whenever a Derby fan says "show me proof that we give free tickets away", show em this:

1,000 free tickets. No wonder there attendances are so high!

It's watching sunday league hoofball, but with the added bonus of a seat. Though you do have to go to Derby to enjoy said seat.

I might actually text in for a ticket just so that there will be one less person there. :D

Think I've posted this before. Free Derby tickets when you buy a beer.

linky

Makes you wonder how many at Gay Pride Park actually pay for a ticket. No wonder it looks like it's full of people who've never been to a football match before.

There's a contradiction in terms if I ever heard one lol

Is quite funny.

On the other hand the City ground has pretty much no atmosphere these days.

I would rather give the tickets away than have the ground empty as it looks terrible on TV.

Also move the away fans closer to the A block - I'm sure this is one of the reasons we turn on the team so often (apart from them being shit)

Allow under 21s into A block - You might all think they are Idiots but again this detracts from the atmosphere.

My point - I laugh at Derby for doing this as much as the next person but until we have an atmospehere at the CG we shouldn't be so smug.

As long as it still made financial sense to buy a season ticket, I'd be quite happy if we gave away a couple of thousand tickets per game to schools for instance. Get 'em keen. Also, how about getting house builders to include a free season ticket as part of the house-buying deal? Come renewal, perhaps a good few would stick with us?

Spot on.

Were not going to sell out every game. So why not let under 16's in for free to get more kids invovled. Or like you said, give a few thousand to schools.

Sheffield Wednesday are doing something like this at the moment. They are giving 2,000 free tickets away to season ticket holders for each home game. They also gave gave something like 8 thousand tickets away against Charlton in January, to schools, long standing supports etc, and have also reduced ticket prices by 25%.

I wish Forest would pull their finger our their arses and do something like this. Instead of charging those who have stuck with us through three seasons in third teir, and a decade of being shit £400-500 for a season ticket.

No wonder my post count..
Totally agree. Isn't viral marketing the best way majorly increase the noticeability of a product, be it in a good or bad light?

Wouldn't label this is viral, but either way it'll get the kids interested, raise noise at the CG, thus raising team spirit (and food sales).

Yeah you might get the odd troublemaker or three, but this is football we're talking about here.

Problem with giving tickets away for free is that some people would actually stop paying and aquire the tickets elsewhere (without paying)

Its probably a better idea for games that are not going to sell out (and only attract 15-18 thousand) to give an allocation to schools and maybe also run a competition once a month to get people applying for their "free" ticket. That way if they dont get a ticket then some would actually buy one, where as normally they wouldn't bother. Even some may buy one if there mate is going, probably splitting the price between them?

All good ideas, but too complicated for our ticket office to handle!

Derby are doing a thing next season where if you miss a game on your season ticket, you can swap it for a match ticket for another game. So if you miss one game you can get an extra ticket for another so you can your mate with you. Good idea to be fair, we'd never do owt like that.

Correct me if im wrong, but hasnt all this good marketing from the scum happened since the yanks came in and took over the club?

There the experts in marketing the old yanky doodles arnt they.

In terms of getting youngsters in the ground we do a lot more than a lot of clubs do because we have our kids for a quid games. I'm not saying this is enough but to say we are doing nothing is perhaps a little hard.

They get bums on the empty seats these 'new fans' enjoy the game, buy a beer/ pie at half time, buy merchandise, bring their mates/ add to atmosphere & revenue, while we have a ground at least 1/4 empty, s**t atmosphere and still have to queue up 15 minutes for a beer (does no-one down at the CG realise half time is the busy time?) and bemoan everything that the club does. Which makes sense?
