Barbus
Steve Chettle
Anyone else read this book? I found it tucked away on one of the shelves in WH Smiths last weekend and I read it cover to cover in my breaks at work in 5 days.
Basically it has 14 chapters, each one devoted to a different Reds player. All of them from the Clough era except Ian Storey-Moore and all of them based on interviews except Roy Keane.
It's a great book for any Forest fan (if a little short
) and will have you laughing out loud at some great anecdotes and puff your chest out with pride at the high regard many of the ex-players hold the club even if they don't come from the local area and the fantastic exploits that this club and those players achieved.
For example - even if you don't hold Psycho in high enough regard already - how about learning that he not only has a deep hatred of Liverpool stemming from our rivalry with them in the late-80s/early 90s but he has also said he would rather go on the dole than ever be in the employment of D*rby!
The writer is also a Forest fan and is suitably biased!
Apparently Alex Ferguson called Brain Clough football's rudest manager in his autobiography - Taylor adds that Fergie calling someone rude is like Robbie Savage complaining about a late tackle!
you don't need any extra reasons to feel good about Forest at the moment, but if you have a spare tenner and a couple of hours to fill I can't recommend it enough.
