December Fixtures.

Well, that's November out of the way with a points haul of 6 from 4 games (1 win & 3 1-1 draws) which has taken us up to the dizzy heights of forth place in the division.

We now have 6 league games throughout December and the question is - where will our points come from & how many - also where do you think we will be sitting in the league on the 1st. of January.

Sat 5 13:00 H Leicester City
Tue 8 19:45 A Sheffield Utd
Sat 12 15:00 A Swansea City
Sat 19 17:20 H Preston NE
Sat 26 12:00 A Watford
Mon 28 15:00 H Coventry City

Sat 5 13:00 H Leicester City FLC 2-1 win
Tue 8 19:45 A Sheffield Utd FLC 1-1 draw
Sat 12 15:00 A Swansea City FLC 1-0 lose
Sat 19 17:20 H Preston NE FLC 2-0 win
Sat 26 12:00 A Watford FLC 1-1 draw
Mon 28 15:00 H Coventry City FLC 3-1 win

11 points from a possible 18 will keep us inside the top six.

Ok, my predicitons are:

Sat 5 13:00 H Leicester City Win 2-1
Tue 8 19:45 A Sheffield Utd Draw 1-1
Sat 12 15:00 A Swansea City Lose 1-0
Sat 19 17:20 H Preston NE Win 3-1
Sat 26 12:00 A Watford Draw 1-1
Mon 28 15:00 H Coventry City Win 2-0

11 points from 18, which will be enough to stay in the top 6 I reckon - exactly the same as Jonathan, which is odd as I did not even read his predictions first. However, this league is impossible to predict so we could easily be +/- 5 points of that haul.

Last season, we drew with Sheff Utd. Since then, we've got better, and they've got worse.

If we could beat them at their place, I would be as happy as I was when we beat Derby. Almost.

At the same time though, I have a feeling we won't beat Leicester.

If we're still in the Top 10 on 1st January, I'll be happy, because that's a couple of places higher than I would have predicted back when the season started.

If we're still in the Top 6, it would be brilliant.

Using the BBC predictor I have got us in 2nd place with Lesda, Cardiff Swansea and QPR all within two points of us.

It's impossible to guess though - who would have said Ipswich nwould have won at Cardiff yesterday?

Cardiff have some tough fixtures in December - the next four are Preston (H) West Brom (A) Middlesborough (A) and Leicester (H) and they could easily lose three out of four, which should put them way behind.

I can't see us losing during this month.

All those games are winnable. I think Billy will prepare for each one individually on the basis of looking for three points. Obviously the away at Swansea and away at Watford both look difficult, as does next weeks home game against the vermin.

Without getting carried away with the current euphoria, I am going to look at these fixtures and look at who will take points from us rather than where we can get them.

Conclusion, we will win at least 4 of these games, the games against Cov, Preston, Blunts and Watford will all be wins.

I've just done the predictor on the BBC website which has left us in 4th on 40 points behind Newcastle, West Brom and QPR.

That's a benchmark, people are talking about The Predictor for the 1st time! Last time we wheeled that out, it was to go over all the different ways we could scape out of the relegation battle!

Let's hope we beat the shit out of everyone's expectations this time around too!

It will be a tough month, perhaps our toughest so far by quite a bit. Not willing to make predictions but if we stay unbeaten (even away) I'll be surprised. We will do OK though from it, which will be good in the grand scheme of the season.

I think there's a lot of over-confidence in this thread, these are tough fixtures coming up and we are on a run that will have to end sooner or later, and I'm thinking sooner.

Hopefully I'm being over-pessimistic.

The hardest game there will be Watford. It's a terrible place to go to. They ain't a good side, but they will try and kick us all over the park. Also the weather will be pretty bad, like last seasons game there.

Watford away was shit last season. They beat us 2-1, didn't they?

Last season we got shafted by Donny Rovers; didn't we lose to Gillingham or Oldham or someone on Boxing Day 2007 as well?

Do you mean The New Years Day Massacre at Oldham when they kicked our arse 5-0 and we finished with 9 men and the referee got an assist for the 4th goal?

Partially. I was getting muddled up. I was actually referring to the 3-0 away loss at Gillingham in December 2007, but that Gills game was on the 29th Dec and not on Boxing Day

:weep:

I've been trying to forget that.

Sat 5 13:00 H Leicester City 1-1 Draw
Tue 8 19:45 A Sheffield Utd 1-2 Win
Sat 12 15:00 A Swansea City 2-2 Draw
Sat 19 17:20 H Preston NE 1-0 Win
Sat 26 12:00 A Watford 2-1 Loss
Mon 28 15:00 H Coventry City 2-0 Win

My predictions leave us 11 out of 18 ;D

fester is the important one, if we win against them then the momentum will continue to grow sweeping sheff utd out the way with a win and a draw with the swans, preston I see as a tight win but watford is the one that nags me that I where I think the run will end, just in time to start a new one in the new year.

My computer is ill, hence the lack of tidyness!!!

Lets say we don't lose the unbeaten run. 6 draws is 6 points. 1 or 2 wins gives us between 8 and 11. Lets go half way and round it up = 10 points throughout December.

Thats not over ambitious is it?

but...

Newcastle are currently 10 points clear. We need more than that. I don't care what people say about us not ready to go up etc etc

You aim to win.

Under Calderwood, being kicked would be enough to make us run and hide.

Nowadays, we kick back harder.

Odder still - I've not made any predictions.
