Dear Deidrie

Reading through various threads, we seem to all have a few dilemmas involving superstitions that we need advice on in prep for Tuesday night. I'll start the ball rolling...

I've taken my Ireland/Forest flag to both previous 2nd play off legs. At the end of each secong leg I've taken it down before the end of the game, which has possibly cursed the result.

On Tuesday, do I: -

a) Take it to the game, but bloody well leave it up until the game's over.

b) Leave it at home. It's the flags that's curse, not how long it's been up for.

I've leaning towards the latter, but what if the flag has ACTUALLY been lucky whilst it's been up, and it was only the taking it down that cursed the outcome of previous play offs?
If I don't take it, we might lose. If I do take it and it's the flags that's cursed, it's going to be all my fault again.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Advice?

Just don't take it. If we win you will feel good not taking it, if we lose, you will realise it's not cursed.

Win win situation to me!

Sod the superstitions, they sound like that shite William Hill 'I will...' advert.

We've lost, drawn and won so many games that no one's superstition can have affectged all of the results. Just my opinion!

Whenever I've seen Forest stuff up in the Play offs, I've been wearing boxer shorts.

Therefore on Tuesday, I shall be going commando.

I think you know my views on this Roonaldo but i would like to elaborate.
Firstly, i feel it is your actions of removal of flag at crucial times of match which has led to our downfall on both occasions.
secondly, to negate any re-occurance of this dilemma, it should be left at home.
Thirdly, when we win you will want to go out on the pop after & having that bloody big flag will hamper the drinking.

that is all.

I can assure you that carrying a large flag (or two at times) has NEVER affected my ability to get insensibly drunk after a Forest game. :D

Alright Phillis, I'll leave it at home and see where that gets us.

However, I don't think it's the flag that's the problem. It's more likely down to sitting next to you at play-off semis that's caused us to lose. Being in opposite corners of the ground tomorrow should fix that problem.

See you in town about three for a couple of bottles of Blossom Hill with chasers to calm the nerves.

Oh, and remember to bring a hanky just in case the flag IS lucky.

The Roon.

Nice to know we are both busy at work and not thinking about the small matter of tomorrows encounter. Will let you know when i'm out but think it will be around 4.30pm.

going to stick a little wager on the result - anyone think I will be collecting anything if I went for 3 nil?

Every home game that me or any of the Ireland supporters branch members have been to this year Forest have won. And some members are heading over tomorrow.

Okay, we now know that as I didn't take my flag it is not cursed.

What a relief.

Was well worth losing just to establish that fact.

But, as you were present at all three defeats, we haven't ruled out that it's actually you that's cursed.

You are hereby banned from future play off matches. :D

Good point.

After the previous three encounters, I'm more than happy never to have to go to a play off match again.

Thinking about it, I was also at the FA Cup defeat at Brum singing about being unbeaten away. Following which we didn't win away again.

In conclusion, I'm banning myself full stop.
