Dean Henderson

Yeah on the reddit threads in r/soccer and one on theother14 a lot of Everton fans seem to be suspicious that their owners are planning to asset strip them. Glad we have EM and just have to buy players for our sister club.
But haven't the owners just invested a few billion on a new stadium?
To invest heavily in the new ground doesn't sit with asset strippers.

Shilton was arrested for drink-driving after being found at 5am in a country lane with a woman called Tina in his car. When Tina's husband Colin arrived he said the pair were partially clothed. Shilton hurriedly drove away and crashed into a lamppost. He admitted 'taking a lady for a meal' and was fined £350 and banned from driving for 15 months. He then had to endure countless terrace chants of 'Shilton, Shilton, where's your wife?'

No, they purchased the club when the stadium was basically finished, they essentially got the club for what it cost to build the stadium.

They are an American consortium, they will likely invest as little as possible & sit on the asset until they can sell them for a profit which shouldn’t be difficult assuming they are a PL club.

He got arrested for taking a lady for a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?

I was going to say there has to be a better keeper somewhere abroad for less money. But I suppose we have been burnt with that before. So you just pay the fee for longevity as you say, but also for guaranteed competence at the level rather than risking it and probably spending a lot of money anyway.

Like with the Wood/Delap transition, we have to proactively plan for replacing older players rather than waiting for a crisis. I do agree getting Henderson in would be sensible. Sels would likely be open to moving back to Belgium by the sound of it. He’s done a good job for us though - absolute bargain.

If Henderson joins and Sels leaves our backup is still inadequate in my view.

What was the main course? Hairy pie? Tuna kebab?

It's all water under the bridge for PS.

There was an episode of the Bill (1994) that made me laugh though. Det sgt Lines was investigating a ('happily' married) grass's alibi, and the alibi was that the grass/suspect was having dinner with his wife.

The restaurant manager confirmed that the suspect was indeed having dinner with a lady, but Lines then proclaimed to his subordinate ( who was very friendly with his grass ) that 'wonders will never cease' and the old boy/suspect had a lover....

"Oh come on sarge! I know you don't like the guy, but accusing him of playing away is just too much..."

" Look son. I've been married 25 years and I've got 5 kids. Do you really think I would spend 150 quid on a restaurant meal with the wife"?
