Good evening gents.

What a miserable afternoon of football is has been for us all. I look at the table and I shake my head thinking - not another season of this?

At least we are in the best of company.

Here's hoping we both pull it together soon.

All the best,

Ello mate,

2 games is a bit early to be worrying about the league table, isn't it? lol

I'm actually quite heartened despite only having a point on the board - we have had a tough trip to Reading and a tough visitor in West Brom. Whilst we lost today, we didn't deserve to. I'm reasonably content that things should be okay this season.

Welcome back, BRF!

Losing is one thing but bloody Coventry....puh-lease!!! :D

Early days yet - I'm studiously ignoring the league tables until at LEAST five games in.

When do we play you, by the way?

I never can work it out - aren't rollercoasters supposed to climb a bit before they drop you? lol ;D

Anyway - any time you want to come and try this particular rollercoaster, you just let me know. You have to be hardcore to take it...

You read my mind on the Coventry thing. At home as well. :(

Evening folks,

Haven't posted on here for about a year. Work commitments take me well away from the joy of broadband and wireless internet.

However, after being at the game today I feel disheartend too. We played well and didn't deserve to lose at all. I'd have been happy with a point definately. But I have to question Earnies penalty taking effort earlier.

Arrrrgghhhh

Not my ideal start to the season considering how happy I was in Portugal to see them lift the most glamourous of trophies....the Albufuria Cup

I think league tables should be banned until 10 games have been played. They can only do harm at this stage of the season by making you think you are better/worse thatn you actually are.

Then again, I am a miserable ****.

Considering the way we played today and who we were playing against, I certainly wouldn't describe the mood in the camp as 'miserable'. Sure, we're disappointed that we were not able to walk away with at least a deserved point yet our performance showed more positive points than negative.

I have every confidence that things will quickly settle and we'll be looking down the league rather than looking up. The important thing at this stage is to analyse the way our new squad are shaping up and ascertain the most effective mix and combination playing to our strengths and the weaknesses of our opponents.

What transfer activity have you had over the summer, not noticed much coming in and out.

Your star can't have been too upsetting, to come back from 2-0 down against Wednesday must have felt like a win and a local derby one at that.

The come back against the pigs was alright - but typical us, making life hard for ourselves by going two down. We had chances to win that game. A moral victory I suppose.

Today was just really poor.

Signings have been quality rather than quantity - Hammill is proven quality. With us on loan last year, we know how good he can be, a very talented young player. We've signed a guy called Halfredsson from a small Serie A club - promises to be good (winger/forward). We got a deal on the table for Andy Gray at Charlton... who knows when that will happen. We need a centreback and a right back though. With those additions we could, possibly, avoid a relegation battle, and I'd settle for that. Weak link is the manager - Simon Davey - who is reasonable in the transfer market, but a poor tactitian and motivator. Makes some really strange decisions and his general style of play can be baffling at times. A frustrating guy. He might be running out of time - I thought that last year we punched below our ability (we let in so many late goals). Davey seems to be the weak link.

Has anyone seen Davey and Calderwood in a room together? That all sounds very familiar! Gray would be a top signing for you but a bit similar to Macken? I think he would be an improvement though.

I wish they didn't do the tables until 5 or so games in, like they used to. No doubt that's something else Sky meddled with!
