Davies: We must ignore Magpies

Manager Billy Davies has urged his Nottingham Forest side to ignore what has transpired at Notts County this week and ensure his own club make inroads in the forthcoming season.

The League Two Magpies have been in the headlines this week for their shock appointment of ex-England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson as director of football.

However, Davies is determined his side can make news of their own by becoming a Premier League club come the end of the season.

"Sven's appointment is something that has raised a lot of eyebrows in football that`s for sure. But it has to be good news for the city," Davies told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"What we have to do is make sure we are the ones who are moving in the right direction.

"Our intention is to make sure we are equipped to challenge in the Championship this season, in what is a very difficult division."

Josh...speaking of ignoring...are you going to address Rich's points regarding reservations about Munto finance at any point?

County are rich, but still s**t, so don't worry about them, because Forest are much better.

I expect him to answer the questions which were addressed to him. Just as I would answer questions asking for my opinions on a given subject, if they were asked of me. Even if the answer is 'don't know'. No response is just rude, like if I'd ignored your question.

Why did you post this? It's not exactly breaking news? Or any news at all to go and post on a "rivals" forum.

All the best to you and don't take it personal but I honestly couldn't give a rats and i'll carry on cheering on the Reds. Because as a Forest fan that's all I care about. Not what is going on over the Trent. No matter what you think.

Davies has been quite vocal about his plans for Forest. And promotion at the end of this season as implied by the NEP certainly is not part of his plan.

Hardly.

County were owned by a trust, which means the fans were actively involved in this takeover. They had to vote to gift the shares over, and write off a loan of £170k, funded by the trust (which, itself was funded in part by many Forest fans).

This won't be a problem

I've been largely ignoring Notts County since I became aware of their existence.

Why did they have to write off £170k if they've just given £2m to sven? Normally you write off a company's debts if on takeover only if it would not be viable otherwise. Clearly they've put a lot more than £170k in already.

Is it just me or is anybody else annoyed at the sheer amount of pointless County threads being started?

So what they have got a washed up manager in Sven. We don't care about County, do we?

perhaps a camp / smith 'debate'

One of them will go down well, seeing as though Camp let one in in his last match and Smith kept a clean sheet.

Smith is therefore better

I wonder what it's like walking down the street being mistaken for a Newcatle fan all the time.

They've got all that money (although nobody knows how much) yet Counteh will continue to entertain their white-hot 4000 fans with dour 0-0 draws against Lincoln and possibly a 1-0 defeat at home to Shrewsbury.

What a joke of a club.
