I didn't hear the interview but would imagine that if the transfer panel do not deliver Billy is going to quit!

Sounded like every other interview to me.

He wasn't clear at the time on whether he had any input re: Perch going but later he said he made recommendations for who comes in and goes out, so maybe he's recommended and advised a price for Perch, Tyson, other such players - and he also specifically mentions loans in and out, so expect ranks to be bolstered that way, perhaps.

I'm starting to suspect that as with what Pleat said in that interview, the TAP as an entity different to what other clubs have is an idea Billy has subtly reinforced in our minds, it's certainly got meme value. It's a useful tool for distancing oneself from the machinations and blame where transfers are concerned.

He said that he received a call from MArthur after the deal for Perch was done to inform him that he had left the club, disappointed.
Has to do the best with what he has available to him. Has handed a list of several targets in several positions over to the Acquisitions Panel, who will do the signings.
Same as last season, but said in a nice new training top.

Edit: Also talked about Cohen, saying he has no intention of losing him, but it comes down to the Acquisitions Panel to decide who comes in and goes out.

That he had no knowledge of Perch's departure until it was agreed and Arthur rang him to inform him and he was disapointed. He also said that it was up to the acquisiton panel who came in and out of the football club.

A few points:

(without seeing a transcript, I may have misheard a couple of bits, so don't take this as 100% accurate)

1. He's recommended "changes" that need to be made - presumably he also gives the TAP a list of players he's happy to lose if they can be replaced.

2. He seems to be washing his hands of responsibility a little. "If all goes to shit this summer, it's not Billy's fault" seemed to be the gist of a lot of what he was saying.

3. That is an Umbro kit (at one point Billy leans back and you can see the double diamond under his initials).

Do you think his role is recommend and advise?

I don't think he made that clear?

The amount of times he repeated this and referred to the Aquisitions Committee makes you wonder what was said in that meeting with Doughty. My feeling is Doughty gave him a dressing down and made it clear what his position as Manager is, now Billy is just taking it one step further to make a point.

still here...
This new training kit, can anyone tell if it's the old style 'squashed' Umbro logo, or the newer 'tailored' logo?

Not that Umbro would make tailored training kits though...

He is more or less saying he has nothing to do with transfers and doesnt
know who is coming or going.

Corresct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Billy Davies actually on the aqcuisitions committee?

I didn't like the sound of that interview at all.

Only when it suits Billy Davies.

We we're all saying this at the end of the season.

BD is a little shit, we know that. He likes to play mind games, we also know that. If anything goes wrong it will definitely not be his fault, we know that also.

None of this seems to be new to us, so why panic.

Typical BD interview. Got his point across and pushed all the focus onto the board.

I don't know the BBC have followed the 'Perch sold behind his back' line. He said himself he'd recommended changes and players that could move on and he hardly sounded gutted to have lost Perch.

Billy is very political; I have worked with guys like that and it is a complete pain; to be honest they usualy f*** up organisations because they are constantly following their own agenda.

As regards the constant referals to the TAP that is a very neat way of not answering the question!

why am I getting the feeling we might actually start this season with a smaller squad than last? surely forest cant be arrogant enough to think that because they finished 3rd last season there's no reason why they cant Finnish there next season without adding to the squad. can see next season being like readings last year

Remember Billy has said before "don't believe what you hear in the media!"

He said an awful lot for nearly eight minutes, without actually saying anything of substance.

You can sum the interview up simply:

1) "I didn't know about James Perch leaving until Mark Arthur phoned and told me it was done"

2) "I've recommended several players for each position to the TAP, to take the club forwards from last seasons finish"

3) "I've no desire to sell Chris Cohen"

4) "When it comes to players, all I can do is recommend and advise the TAP"

Billy is, of course, a member of the TAP.

You can look at this two ways; first, he's blathered along and strung out an interview for eight minutes, saying nothing at all of substance, whilst the club gets on with its business on the quiet, or second, Billy is preparing the "it wasn't my fault" defence if it all falls to pieces and we sign nobody.

I would prefer to believe its the former, rather than the latter.

So, Billy gave the TAP a list of players who could leave and a list of players he like to see in

The TAP sells one of those players (you got to imagine Perch was on that list) then out of courtesy MAP calls Billy to let him know the jobs done

Move on, nothing to see here.

the whole TAP thing suits Billy because everytime he his asked a question he's not too sure on he can just say " well it's in the hands of the TAP "
