davies forest v harts forest and while im at it franks forest

I asked the question at this time last year during a matchday thread if our current side was really much worse than that of harts play off side, I was told at the time by quite a few people that the current side where not fit to be on the same pitch as Our play off side.

so come on then whats your opinions now then? and while where at it how does it compare to franks promotion side?

I honestly believe this is the best side we have had since we bounced back with the likes of cooper/colymore/woan/stone/Pearce in the side

the most exciting thing for me is we have a side that is firring on all cylinders that is beating good sides for fun and 90% of the squad hasn't even hit the peak of the careers in terms of age and still have the best to come, once this team has fully developed and with a few additions to the squad god knows where they will take us.

Frank's Forest would win, Davies' Forest would beat Hart's, though.

Can't really compare them Rich. Stone could turn any LB/midfielder inside out on a bad day. As with the rest. Not the same level but it will be nice to see how they do fair.

Agreed - at the moment...

Mark Crossley - Des Lyttle - Colin Cooper - Steve Chettle - Stuart Pearce

or

Lee Camp - Chris Gunter - Wes Morgan - Kelvin Wilson - Nicky Shorey

I'll tell you what though, Frank's team vs Billy's team - I'd buy a ticket for that match !!

Spot on. Although if you put Collymore in the current team they would be jizztastically good.

Put him in any team and they would be lol

Take him out of Clark's team and Billy would triumph.

No disrespect and without tryin to pee on fireworks we had a good flow of England players then. Just think in comparative terms.

Frank's Forest was a class act in the Premiership so would certainly beat both the other sides..

Hart's Forest could well beat Davies' Forest if at home, the way we dismantled many sides that year was fantastic! When Reid, Harewood and Johnson were firing on all cylinders they could take any at this level apart.

Davies' Forest at home though would win beat Hart's Forest though, the away form in 02/03 was pretty shocking

Whilst there are a lot of things we could compere across the three sides I'd much rather not to be honest, as good as it was to see Stan the Man give his 2 gun salute these were the beginnings of dark times for NFFC, very dark times indeed.

Lets just live for today & what Billy has given us, lets just look at that league position & puff our chests out with pride. Pride that a certain wee Scotsman is bringing back to the banks of the Trent.

Forget the past, forget the misery, forget the 5-2 against Yeovil (Who?)

Last nights performance brought a tear to my eye & it's all thank to that wee man.

So lets leave the past where it is, in the past

Hart's and Frank's team had more talent. I think Billy's the better manager though and could probably do well with a team with no talent.

Tough call but in Franks Forest apart from Collymore he had Bryan Roy who i thought was a brilliant player with a great footballing brain.

Thinking about it, Frank had Stuart Pearce, Colin Cooper, Des Lyttle (so underrated IMHO), Lars Bohinen, at this level David Phillips, later Steve Stone. Stan Collymore, Bryan Roy, Ian Woan. Fook.

Oh, I'm happy that someone remembered to have a reality check...

If we get close we'll be good, and please remember these are from after the glory years.

A class above the current crop. Lars was class, Pearce a legend, Stone was a pillar of consistency, Roy was knocking on the door of a tasty dutch side, Woan was in the top 3 English left midfielders, Cooperman was a fringe England squad player and fine captain and there was only one Stanley.
no wonder we came bloody 3rd :D

I would fancy the FC side to beat us 2-1 at home and we'd scrape 1-1 away.
Interestingly I would say our bench/squad today has more options and looks more frightening than the school of 94.

Agree, where Billy's squad has the edge over Frank and Paul is depth. There aren't many positions where we don't have a lot of options, and there aren't many people who would be a disaster to lose to injury (don't get me wrong, of course we'd like nobody to be injured). I would say that McKenna and Shorey are the key men on that front. Arguably Camp, without getting into the goalkeeper debate.

Last year it wasn't better.

This year it is much much better. 2 good quality full backs, 2 great midfielders and 4 very very good strikers.

The key difference for me is the depth. If injury strikes we have somebody there to replace them. I guess the wings and full back positions don't have that depth but Cohen seemed to be slotting in at left back nicely, Chambers has played at right back this season on occasion well as did Perch in the cup game. McKenna gets injured nobody will complain to see Moussi coming in to the side. McGugan banging in the goals off the bench is hardly going to make even Majewski a big miss. We are so much more prepared for the need to change whether its down to poor form by players or injury.

So yes we are much better :)

Forest are Forest.
Somedays good, somedays not but it's the same club.

Steve Claridge on the other hand is a complete twat.

Bohinen wasn't, was he? Came in after the start of the promotion season.

Roy was top flight though, yes.

Roy we signed from Foggia, after promotion. If I remember, it was £2.5m (?)

This was - of course - when he was already an established member of the Dutch National Team (and had played in the World Cup '94!)

(Disclaimer - my company has a Dutch office and I spend "a bit" of time there!)
