Davies - Anything Can Happen

Hoax

Hopefully not already been posted

Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies believes his side are capable of securing a top-two finish this season.

The Reds are currently the form side in the Championship, with an 11-game unbeaten run rocketing them into third place in the table.

They are the only side in the top four divisions to still be unbeaten on their travels and have been buoyed by morale-boosting derby day successes over Derby County and Leicester City on home soil.

A six-point gap currently separates them from the automatic promotion places, despite their recent fine form, but Davies is adamant that Forest can claw their way into contention between now and the end of the season.

"We should be quietly confident. We are certainly not getting carried away with anything though," he told Sky Sports News.

"Even back to the beginning, when we were losing a few games and getting draws, I felt we were creating enough chances and we were just not clinical enough.
Chasing pack

"In this league anything is possible, it only takes a couple of injuries and a couple of suspensions

"What you have to ask yourself is, 'when is the best time to go into the play-off positions?' Sometimes it can be better chasing the pack than being in there and handling the pressure.

"I have watched it over the last few years where teams that are sat in the play-off positions come to April and May and then blow it completely."

Wary of peaking too soon, Davies admits he will be looking to strengthen his side during the January transfer window, while looking to fend off the advances of any manager looking to snatch his first-team stars.

He added: "I have recommended and advised again to the board of directors at this club with regards to what players we should be bringing in, what type of player we should be bringing in, and what kind of spending it will take for us to consistently keep up this challenge."

He should be renamed Billy 'Schizo' Davies. Lose tomorrow night and we'll be in a dogfight for relegation.

No wonder my post count..
I'm not looking forward to our unbeaten run being halted. It will murder us.

Exactly...it's the press twisting his words again

Not really. They just showed the interview on Sky Sports News and they're talking to him about chasing down West Brom and Newcastle. When he said about a couple of injuries and suspensions, he is talking about them and the fact we could quite easily catch them and then he goes on to talk about us so all they've done is rearrange the order of the quotes which is entirely normal.

I think some people are hanging on to every word Billy says and in some cases twisting them.

Just go with the flow. ATM we are in superb form but odds are we will have a blip or two before the end of the season. If this should happen and we miss out on the play offs or god forbid better, I hope people don't just assume that we have failed.

:nowink:
I take everything Billy says with a pinch of salt now. Only yesterday on Talksport I clearly heard him say that Newcastle are going to win the league and it will be beyond us catching them because of the parachute payments etc. etc.
I don't care what he says. Words mean nothing. If we win 18 of the last 26 games we'll win the league. What more can be said on the matter than that ???

Lets face it, Billy isn't an idiot. He's very astute and extremely clever. As I saw somewhere else, he knows how the things like 'we're serious about promotion' thing etc will have gone down, and knows how expectant us fans are. He doesn't want to make a spike for his own head. I don't particulalry take notice of what he says on the clubs chances.

If we were offered promotion tomorrow, he'd take it ! End of !
