I know that it's fashionable to knock DJ but I have never subscribed to the theory that he milked the club any more than other players of his time. It was, however, nice to see him amongst us at Derby on Friday night and I like to think that it shows that he still cares for the club.

I have seen him at a number of away games since he stopped playing and he has always been happy to chat with fans, have his photo taken with them and generally afford them the time of day.

He was one of the few players at Forest who you wouldn't really mind messing something up because fans just loved him. He was a bit of a 'legend'.

He was sat in front of me at the Derby game and looked extremelly happy when Earny scored, as did the Jemolition man, who was sat behind me!

I can't bring myself to like him after his shameful showing at Chester away in the cup. Never have I left a game so utterly convinced that a team were deliberately throwing a result to further undermine a manager.

Once I've convinced myself of this, it's difficult to have any shred of respect for them, regardless of whether or not the manager at the time (Megson) was or wasn't a complete twunt.

He was awful on the pitch when he arrived, had one and a half years of exceptional form (and I'm not ashamed to say he won me around then, being the fickle fan that I am) followed by yet more awfulness.

I wouldn't be impolite to him if I encountered him, but I wouldn't fall over myself to blow smoke up his arse either (unlike Dan lol )

He is a top bloke! I was lost bigtime trying to find the CityGround & just happened to be driving through a posh area, saw this chap mowing his lawn & stopped to ask him directions & it was DJ himself & he was more than happy to give me directions.

Johnno plays (now and again) for Nottingham Alumi in the Premier Prem on Sunday.. played against him a few weeks back..

He must still be 'In Love' with the game, or his missus does the cleaning on a Sunday and he wants to be out the house ? ???

Nick.

Once known as Nick.Doyle.nffc on 'ere.
Johnno for that one season was a great striker, we rushed him back and wasn't the same again..
Great gut though

Earlier this season (possibly the Palace game?) he was the guest of honour. As everyone was applauding him walking round the pitch before kick off a couple of youngish lads, probably late teens, said something like "now there goes a REAL Forest legend".

Johnno was OK, but to someone who's old enogh to have seen Robertson, Gemmil, Pearce, Clough, Collymore etc... legend seems a bit extreme.

Scott Gemmill had luxurious hair.

Scot Gemmill will always be a legend after his brace won us the Simod cup in the 91-92 season... ;D

After that game my dad spotted him as we were walking across the Brian Clough car park. I shouted 'Johnno' then ran after him and asked for a hug (I was abit tipsy) then claimed it was for my sister who wasn't there!

He was very obliging and friendly, and laughed when I said it was for my sister when it was clearly for me!

He was probably relieved you weren't Dan - he asked for MUCH more than a hug!

Also, how long did it take for you to 'run' across the car park? ;)

Is Liz like Jon Olav Hjelde, who could run faster than he could walk?

Isn't that the wrong way around? Surely he could walk faster than he could run?

Luckily he wasn't too far away and I screamed his name so he had to stop and wait for me!

In turn, I was there like a shot! :p
