Nottingham Forest could sign David Carmo​

A story from Record in Portugal now states that Nottingham Forest could take over a deal to sign David Carmo as Olympiacos struggle to finance it.

The Greek Super League outfit had taken the Angola international on loan for the 2023/24 campaign, and also negotiated an option to buy him from Porto permanently for €17.5m (£15m).

The 17 million euros of the price of Karmos is unattainable for a Greek team, but it is passable for the teams of the Premier League.

Thus, Nottingham Forest have joined Leicester and Wolves who are looking at the case of the young Angolan stopper.

Will Nottingham take Karmos, loan him to Olympiakos for a year and then use him in the English league? This is also a possible scenario.

However, Vangelis Marinakis said that if the player wants England "I don't take him to Nottingham to... finish?".

Bit of a no brainer this one if we are shipping out Murilo. Left sided CB, keep hold of Niakhate.

Get Vitao signed up as well, decent business on balance.

Very good depth at CB.

Record's story does not make much sense. We desperately want him to stay, you cannot buy him to lend him to us because I guess your PSR troubles do not allow such Hwang-level generosity, if you want a left-footed CB, I suppose there are other options.

As far as the player's value is concerned, Carmo is a fine, no-bullshit CB. He will never do anything extravagant, nor will his interceptions feature in many highlights, but he'll always be where he's supposed to be, he'll win everything in the air and he will not make many mistakes.

Why does the story not make sense, Oly can’t afford the obligation fee, and his parent club know they can sell him for near that value elsewhere.

I can't make any sense of it either. Forest aren't going to buy him for Oly which is kind of what the story is insinuating.

I'd support this signing if there's any truth in the story. The Portuguese connection and Carmo's no-nonsense physical approach would work well paired with Boly.

A slight concern would be the quoted price: even after 1st July we can't be loading huge amounts into the books. If this could partially offset by maybe part-exchanging Vlachodimos back to a league he previously did well in, that would be another positive. He's also capped for Angola, which would need to be taken into account as AFCON absences really hurt us this season, but overall it looks a good option if the club wish to invest in this area.

(I did, right back when they signed him - interesting that @GreeksBearingGifts stance seems to have changed a little in that, if I have it right, he may now deem him good enough for the Prem as a no nonsense type?)

Yeah unless a big sale is imminent then there's no way a relatively large purchase like this is made before the end of June.

My prediction is that we'll shift enough deadwood to clear FFP by June 30th, then sell Murillo after the deadline for huge money and then go on a spending spree the likes of which has never been seen before at Forest.

carmo biggest weakness is lack of pace, paired up with boly might make forest strong aerially but very vulnerable to pace.
