Nottingham Forest are looking at Stoke City's Danny Pugh and considering making a move in January.
Pugh is thought to be unhappy at his lack of first team opportunities at the Britannia, only making three league appearances for the Potters this season, all of them coming from the bench.
The Stockport born player can play at either left wing, left back or a central midfield position and despite signing a one year contract extension at the end of last season has become increasingly frustrated at a lack of playing time for the team he helped get promoted to and helped survive in the Premier League last year.
The 26 year old started his career at Manchester United's youth academy and featured a few times for the first team before he became Kevin Blackwell's first signing for Leeds United as part of the deal taking Alan Smith in the opposite direction and is where he first started to make a name for himself. He was played mainly on the left wing and was the clubs top scorer until having to be moved to left back due to injuries which gave David Healy time to pass his total. A change of formation and losing his place to Matthew Kilgallon at left back saw Pugh move on in search of first team football to Preston North End in 2006 where he was an ever-present on the left wing before moving on loan to Stoke in November 2007 and then securing a permanent deal in January for £500,000. He then helped the club into the top flight during his first season with them.
Last season Pugh was regarded mostly as a squad player covering for injuries and playing well when called upon but it seems now he is looking for a club where he will be given a more significant role after falling behind players such as Etherington in his preffered role of left wing.
With Davies believed to have a list of players he has proposed to the board it is not known if Pugh is a first choice or a fall back option but he would fit in well with what is needed presently and the versatility he can provide would be most likely welcomed at the club.
