Danilo

I wonder if we'd have seen Elliott Anderson emerge as rapidly as he has to become a £100m player had Danilo not suffered that terrible injury.
Sliding doors type moment. Certainly got Anderson starting quicker, but you'd think with his talent that would have happened anyway after a few games even if Danilo hadn't had that injury.

20/20 hindsight is working.
Maybe we should have let him go back to Brazil on a season-long loan deal.
But that would expose us to the risk pointed out by another poster: that of him never recovering his pre-injury form, (which was a bit erratic to be fir, even before the broken ankle), and us not recouping any of the fee we paid for him when we bought his services.

He was absolutely garbage in the games for us after returning back from injury.

Glad that he's recovered his form in Brazil but it was absolutely the right decision for us to sell him at that point.

Agreed.

I remember watching the game against Man Utd in which he looked so hopelessly lost. At times he looked barely National League standard in that first half. Was really sad to see as we all knew how talented he actually was, but that injury really did a number on him.

Even though it's easy to look back at his revival and say we should have held onto him, I think there's an argument to be made that he probably needed to leave and get a fresh start to rediscover his confidence.

Here's the video if you haven't seen it.

I wonder how much action he'll see - it seems like Ancelotti really likes him.

I don't really define his Forest career by the end period where his form tailed off. That injury was brutal for a young lad in a foreign country - his head was just gone after that. 23-24 Danilo was a joy to watch.

It'll be nice to see him playing on the ultimate stage.

I've somehow ended up watching Brazil v Panama and Danilo has just came on at half time. Without wanting to be too quick to jump the gun or mean it as a diss but he looks like hte same Danilo that left us - apart from his great new head of locks.

Crazy to see a laboured Brazil transformed at half time by a winger from Bournemouth and a Brentford striker.

Danilo really deployed as a 10 or a high high 8 by Ancelotti, he's ghosting around the box all the time and laid up a goal with a lovely dummy. Still passive off the ball and a little bit inconsistent with his passing, but the runs into the box are there in all their glory.

So seems Textor is saying the sale to us in January ,was not for £4mn, as others in Botafogo are saying but that we would have written off the outstanding debt of £28mn (where does that come from)

Could the £28m be outstanding fees we owe them on the four Botafogo signings we made? Maybe.
